anyone else noticed the shitty subscription options for audiobooks? They give you only a few hours on their already overpriced family plan and then ask for an additional 12 bucks for a stingy 15 hours per month. Canceled right away. Anyone know good alts? There must be something better out there than the 31$/month Spotify rip-off.

I get that audiobook hours can feel limited if audiobooks are the main thing you're using Spotify for. Longer titles can use up the monthly listening time pretty quickly.

That said, it's worth keeping in mind that Premium Family is primarily a music and audio plan for multiple people in the same household. The plan includes things like ad-free music listening, offline downloads, on-demand playback, multiple individual accounts, personalized recommendations, playlists, podcasts, and other Premium features for the family members on the plan.

The audiobook listening time is more of an added benefit on top of the Premium plan, rather than the whole plan being priced only around audiobooks. For some people, the included hours are enough for occasional audiobook listening. For heavier audiobook listeners, extra hours or a separate audiobook option may make more sense depending on how much they listen each month.

I definitely understand the feedback though. It would be great to see more flexible audiobook options in the future, especially for Family plan members who listen a lot. If audiobook value is the main concern, it's worth sharing that feedback in the Ideas section so other users can vote and add their thoughts too.
