We have been using those SDKs since they became available.
Our particular app (Amazing Slow Downer) lets the user play music more slowly, since a couple of years ago also songs from Spotify. The "ios-streaming-sdk" is a beautifully designed framework that lets an audio developer do practically everything needed.
In our case it makes it possible to access the raw audio samples and this way process the sound and then playback the processed audio using our regular audio playback engine. With your new SDK this is not possible. It might be that the "ios-streaming-sdk" is more difficult to use for an average developer but that also makes it more powerful.
We have many users that uses Spotify. Many users switch from other streaming services such as "Apple Music", Tidal, Amazon Music etc to Spotify just to be able to slow down streaming music in real time.
We believe our app gives Spotify many many new subscribers, so many that it would actually pay off for Spotify to maintain the "ios-streaming-sdk".
We only use "playlist" functions and after fixing a couple of bugs in the "metadata framework" available on github, everything works 100%. Although there are certainly some bugs in the “ios-streaming-sdk”, they are very few and don’t affect our app.
We also have an Android version of our app that uses your Android streaming SDK and it also works very good.
We believe Spotify will loose thousands of users, so many that the minimal cost Spotify need to spend on maintenance will pay off manifold.
Since our app also supports playback and slowing down of streaming Apple Music, many of our users will probably switch from subscribing to Spotify to subscribing to Apple Music.
You write:
"After September 1st, important functionality in the streaming SDKs will stop working."
Exactly what does that mean? What part of the SDK will continue to work?
Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs!

Please keep this functionality available! For musicians of all levels being able to change the speed and/or pitch during playback of a song is an invaluable tool!!
It sucks that Spotify has stopped 3rd party access to its steaming music, meaning you can no longer use it with iOS and/or Android apps like Amazing Slow Downer (ASD). What a thoughtless, short sighted decision. As guitar teacher who uses Spotify for streaming music and uses the ASD app all the time, I rely heavily on the compaltbility between the two, so this is a massive blow for me. I will ditch Spotify for Apple Music and encourange all of my 50+ guitar students to do the same.

Moving to Apple Music today because of this. If you need to pitch shift a song on Amazing Slow Downer, it works when purchased through iTunes. Speed works on all. This will work for me going forward. Sad to have to leave Spotify.
I know how this workaround works. But then I need to buy every song separately, while there is an almost unlimited selection of songs included in my premium spotify account. And it was so easy: just add a song to one of your playlists...
The workaround works, for sure. But it is not as easy as it was with ASD.
I completely agree with above. I really need to have access to Spotify via Amazing Slow Downer. I'm a premium subscriber and I will cancel my subscription and switch to Apple Music or whatever streaming service is compatible with Amazing Slow Downer.
I am a Premium subscriber and one of the main reasons I subscribe to Spotify is due to its functionality with Amazing Slow Downer. If I can no longer use Spotify with Amazing Slow Downer I will cancel my Premium subscription.

I am completely shocked to learn about this. I’ve been paying for premium Spotify for several years and I am a musician that relies on the link with ASD to learn songs. This link is one of the reasons I am a Spotify subscriber, despite Temptations to leave several times in this last year for unrelated reasons and some content decisions by Spotify. The decision to drop the link with ASD is just lunacy and needs to be reversed.
As a premium subscriber I am more than annoyed that Spotify is blocking streaming to 3rd party apps. I use Amazing Slow Downer app specifically with Spotify for transcribing. In fact it was the reason I went premium.
I understand why Spotify would want to protect access to content, but a blanket ban on all 3rd party apps is not the way to go. I’m asking the developers to reconsider allowing access to apps such as ASD. You inadvertently push consumers to find work arounds such as illegal copying or just leaving the platform.
I have just subscribed to Apple Music, which is continuing to interface with Amazing Slow Downer. Since I have already paid for Spotify this month I’ll keep both services for the next few weeks in hopes that Spotify reconsiders its decision to stop allowing streaming of SDKS such as ASD. If not, Adiós, Spotify.
Please ,
Transcribing is a great way to learn music , as a student , i use spotify and ASD daily , please continue to support streaming sdk , this is a valuable tool for all students around the world.
I came on here (for the 1st time ever) to complain about this very same thing. In fact, this was the only reason I have been subscribing to Spotify co-currently with one of their competitors with a much higher streaming bitrate. With having an Atmos system which you don't support, and Sony Headphones that can handle superior streaming codecs that you don't offer, it's time to save myself a few bucks a month. Extremely disappointed.
Please fix this problem Spotify! Amazing Slow Downer is invaluable! Rehearsing has nerver been easier or more fun.
My only option is switching to Apple Music and I don’t want to and neither do you.
Just cancelled my Spotify Family Premium subscription after beeing a Spotify user since the early days. Apple music next. Thank you for the music, Spotify!
I’ m using amazing slow downer for analysing songs I would like to play as a semi professional musician. By not allowing Third party apps to play Spotify content, one of my main interest in Spotify is lost. I might consider te stream my music on another platform. Spotify kills creativity.
I have been using ASD as a guitar student, and it has been very helpful. I was extremely sad to hear that ASD will stop working with Spotify content. My first experience of trying to use YouTube instead when practising has been HORRIBLE. Spotify developers: Please, please reconsider helping musical instrument students around the world by continuing to support ASD 😥
I am using ASD to learn and transcribe music, so please put back the use so we can continue to learn!
Rolf, please let us know about any possible developments with Tidal or other streaming services. We are all eager to hear about any options other than Apple. F&@k Spotify.
