Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs

We have been using those SDKs since they became available.

Our particular app (Amazing Slow Downer) lets the user play music more slowly, since a couple of years ago also songs from Spotify. The "ios-streaming-sdk" is a beautifully designed framework that lets an audio developer do practically everything needed.
In our case it makes it possible to access the raw audio samples and this way process the sound and then playback the processed audio using our regular audio playback engine. With your new SDK this is not possible. It might be that the "ios-streaming-sdk" is more difficult to use for an average developer but that also makes it more powerful.

We have many users that uses Spotify. Many users switch from other streaming services such as "Apple Music", Tidal, Amazon Music etc to Spotify just to be able to slow down streaming music in real time.

We believe our app gives Spotify many many new subscribers, so many that it would actually pay off for Spotify to maintain the "ios-streaming-sdk".

We only use "playlist" functions and after fixing a couple of bugs in the "metadata framework" available on github, everything works 100%. Although there are certainly some bugs in the “ios-streaming-sdk”, they are very few and don’t affect our app.

We also have an Android version of our app that uses your Android streaming SDK and it also works very good.

We believe Spotify will loose thousands of users, so many that the minimal cost Spotify need to spend on maintenance will pay off manifold.

Since our app also supports playback and slowing down of streaming Apple Music, many of our users will probably switch from subscribing to Spotify to subscribing to Apple Music.

"After September 1st, important functionality in the streaming SDKs will stop working."
Exactly what does that mean? What part of the SDK will continue to work?

Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs!

I totally agree. I'm a musician and use the Spotify playlist accessiblity within Amazing Slowdowner on a daily basis. My Spotify premium subscription became a lot less interesting since 1st of September. I will give it 2 weeks and then switch to Apple Music.

I have been using Spotify with Amazing Slowdowner for many years, to help me learn new songs on the banjo. I am very unhappy that this is no longer possible and am considering leaving Spotify and changing to another music service that supports ASD.

Terrible.  Just terrible.  What are they afraid of, losing money?  They must be rolling in the stuff

Spotify why are you doing this?  Amazing slowdowner is amazing and such an important tool for musicians. Apple doesn’t do this so maybe it is time to switch if you won’t reconsider.

Please continue support for the SDK that makes Amazing Slow Downer work! That particular app is the main reason for why I chose Spotify instead of other music streaming apps.

Same here, please allow this Spotify! 🙏

I canceled my subscription…didn’t want to…but they gave me no choice

Gutted about this. The way online services  just remove things when they feel like makes me really uneasy. Reckon I’m going to go back to buying things direct from artists. Much better for them too!

Please let this tool use Spotify. It is indispensable for musicians and there really is no alternative.

Being able to use Amazing Slow Downer is 90% of the reason I ended up subscribing to Spotify in the first place and if I'm unable to continue using it it's hard to justify my Spotify subscription. I'll very likely cancel.

Please reconsider your dcision that third party apps will not any longer have access to streaming Spotify content in a way that works for slowing down audio.

the main reason why I use Spotify now has disappeared and I will  cancel my account and switch over to Apple Music. Maybe sometimes Spotify will change their decision to stop ASD from working. I am a guitar player and ASD is an essential tool for me

I totally agree! This app helped me a lot in music school when our teacher gave us a song in a different key.

When I got tired of songs at Spotify I went listening in AS and my interest for the songs grew again.

Sorry but this is the worst decision you guys in Spotify have committed.

Amazing Slow Downer and its feature to slow down songs and also change pitches is an awesome and absolute necessary tool for musicians for all kind.

I've been using Spotify for over a decade, for the most part of it actively in Amazing Slow Downer. If you disable their functionality, I have to look for an alternative way of making my songs available in the app. Ripping them illegaly is certainly no option for me (for others it might be, but does Spotify really want that?!), so the only actual (but very annoying option) is switching to another streaming service such as Apple Music (again, does Spotify really want that?!).

Please reconsider your decision and enable the functionality again so Amazing Slow Downer (and other handy apps) will continue to work properly again. You'll support musicians of all kinds all over the globe massively by just a small move from your side.

Thank you!

When I can't use amazing slow downer is Spotify USELESS for me!!

Please make it possible again to connect Amazing Slow Downer with Spotify without problems!!

Same here. There are many streaming services and things like this are what make your choice. Time to look around.

If over 500 people have taken the time out of their busy day to voice their outrage for just *1 app* then that would suggest this issue has a very very wide impact across all the users of not just this app but all the other apps that this, honestly developer and customer hostile move has resulted in the death of.

Spotify, this is your opportunity to be the good guy and reinstate your streaming SDKs and libspotify. If the media gets wind of this that opportunity is gone.

so do the right thing 👍

This morning I took a subscription on Apple Music. Connectivity between the Apple Music playlists and Amazing Slowdowner works like a charm. 2 Months Apple Music subscription free of charge. If Spotify does not restore the connectivity, 4th of November I will cancel the Spotify premium family subscription.

I am a user of this app. It is very helpful in learning songs without retuning my guitar. I joined Spotify specifically because it supported use of the app, unlike Apple Music. Now I have no reason to continue my Spotify subscription.
Please reconsider this decision.
