We have been using those SDKs since they became available.
Our particular app (Amazing Slow Downer) lets the user play music more slowly, since a couple of years ago also songs from Spotify. The "ios-streaming-sdk" is a beautifully designed framework that lets an audio developer do practically everything needed.
In our case it makes it possible to access the raw audio samples and this way process the sound and then playback the processed audio using our regular audio playback engine. With your new SDK this is not possible. It might be that the "ios-streaming-sdk" is more difficult to use for an average developer but that also makes it more powerful.
We have many users that uses Spotify. Many users switch from other streaming services such as "Apple Music", Tidal, Amazon Music etc to Spotify just to be able to slow down streaming music in real time.
We believe our app gives Spotify many many new subscribers, so many that it would actually pay off for Spotify to maintain the "ios-streaming-sdk".
We only use "playlist" functions and after fixing a couple of bugs in the "metadata framework" available on github, everything works 100%. Although there are certainly some bugs in the “ios-streaming-sdk”, they are very few and don’t affect our app.
We also have an Android version of our app that uses your Android streaming SDK and it also works very good.
We believe Spotify will loose thousands of users, so many that the minimal cost Spotify need to spend on maintenance will pay off manifold.
Since our app also supports playback and slowing down of streaming Apple Music, many of our users will probably switch from subscribing to Spotify to subscribing to Apple Music.
You write:
"After September 1st, important functionality in the streaming SDKs will stop working."
Exactly what does that mean? What part of the SDK will continue to work?
Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs!

Yes, it's really disappointing. The Spotify/Amazing Slowdowner-compatibility has been the main reason for me to choose Spotify for my music provider.
Please reconsider your decision to drop streaming support for third party apps.
Up until 1st Sept, I had been using Spot EQ for two years, which greatly improved my listening enjoyment. This app enabled me to achieve high quality (and personalised) sound without having to purchase highly expensive speakers.
Unless I can use Spot EQ again, I will be looking for alternative ways to enjoy music.
Amazing Slow Downer was the only reason I had Spotify over Apple Music. Apple Music would be better for me in every way - the only reason I’ve stuck with Spotify for the last 2 or so years was ASD compatibility.
Signed up for an Apple Music trial today, I’ll be cancelling Spotify when the trial ends of this isn’t changed.
After five years of using Spotify, I am cancelling my subscription. If you all ever reverse course on this awful new policy, let me know.
Spotify! Please continue supporting amazing slow downer! I use it daily- I’ll have to switch to Apple Music or the like if it’s not restored soon. Amazing slow downer is more important to me than this streaming service and I know I’m not the only one who feels that way.
I am very sorry for this and as so many already have said I think Apple Music is the only option. I don’t think Spotify cares at all about what we think but I hope enogh people will leave them now so they will wonder. But that is maybe foolish to hope for. Anyway it was good as long as it lasted. Good bye spotify.
Benig able to use amazing slowdowner together with Spotify is the main reason for me to pay for spotify. I really hope its coming back!
Please continue to support your SDK in order for Amazing Slow Downer and other apps to work as they used to! The integration of Spotify in ASD is the reason I subscribed to the premium account in the first place!

Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs!
I am a college dance professor and my colleagues and I use Spotify and ASD heavily as a teaching tool to loop and adjust speed on class music. If this change stands then my whole department will be making the shift to Apple Music. Please reconsider this change and bring back the streaming SDKs!
Worth pointing out that this petition exists for those who've yet to see it (including Spotify presumably) -> https://www.change.org/p/keep-spotify-and-amazing-slow-downer-compatible
Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs
Sorry to say goodbye to Spotify, but this fuctionality is too important for me. Cancelled my subscription and have moved to Apple music, which still supports this tool.

I’m switching to apple music. Inferior but at least it helps me practice the guitar!
I subscribed to Spotify specifically so I can use Amazing Slow Downer. At the very least, it would be helpful if you could give us an explanation as to why you now prevent us from using this functionality.
Spotify, please keep this working. I would have to consider switching to another service if things like Spotify-CLI stop working.
Services begin to rot when they abandon power users. We've seen it a million times. Don't be like them.
It is a complete bummer that I can’t use the Amazing Slow Downer with Spotify. I will likely have to drop Spotify for Apple Music.
I need amazing slow downer
as a beginner of guitar player it helps me a lot.
Please continue to support this feature and allow third party apps to use this feature.
Spotify offers more and more audiobooks. I listen to the audiobooks at 0.7-0.8 speed. This allows me to grasp the content better, especially with non-fiction books.
Spotify does not offer this feature itself, so I have to use another app for it.
Goodbye Spotify.
This changes everything! I am(was) developing a visual music synthesizer as a collaborative experience. Kind-of a TikTok for VJ artists. Was even thinking of setting up shop in Stockholm. Maybe I should explore doing this with MusicKit, instead? Probably easier as we are doing an Apple-first rollout.
Maybe music-sync licensing is an issue? I used to work at Snocap, which tried to deal with that issue.
