We have been using those SDKs since they became available.
Our particular app (Amazing Slow Downer) lets the user play music more slowly, since a couple of years ago also songs from Spotify. The "ios-streaming-sdk" is a beautifully designed framework that lets an audio developer do practically everything needed.
In our case it makes it possible to access the raw audio samples and this way process the sound and then playback the processed audio using our regular audio playback engine. With your new SDK this is not possible. It might be that the "ios-streaming-sdk" is more difficult to use for an average developer but that also makes it more powerful.
We have many users that uses Spotify. Many users switch from other streaming services such as "Apple Music", Tidal, Amazon Music etc to Spotify just to be able to slow down streaming music in real time.
We believe our app gives Spotify many many new subscribers, so many that it would actually pay off for Spotify to maintain the "ios-streaming-sdk".
We only use "playlist" functions and after fixing a couple of bugs in the "metadata framework" available on github, everything works 100%. Although there are certainly some bugs in the “ios-streaming-sdk”, they are very few and don’t affect our app.
We also have an Android version of our app that uses your Android streaming SDK and it also works very good.
We believe Spotify will loose thousands of users, so many that the minimal cost Spotify need to spend on maintenance will pay off manifold.
Since our app also supports playback and slowing down of streaming Apple Music, many of our users will probably switch from subscribing to Spotify to subscribing to Apple Music.
You write:
"After September 1st, important functionality in the streaming SDKs will stop working."
Exactly what does that mean? What part of the SDK will continue to work?
Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs!

I will have to drop spotify if this happe s! I'm a professional musician and absolutely rely on this function, it's basically the only reason I use Spotify.
I will change certainly to Apple music if this really happens. I’m only here for Amazing Slowdowner. Why all good things have to come to and end when money is involved….
I use this app everyday for practicing my trumpet. I use it to play along to songs and to learn jazz solos. This is an integral part of my practice. I need to be able to slow down the recordings and create loops in order to learn the songs. The only reason I subscribe to spotify is because it is compatible with this app. I will have to end my subscription if this becomes a reality 😞
We are a gospel choir in Sweden that use this app ALOT! It is fantastic and the benefit of beeing able to use Spotify and slow it down or loop is just amazing! (Hence the Name of the app. Hehe)
because we do mostly covers, Spotify is quite essential! Please keep this feature alive! /David
Being able to slow down music as a musician affects my livelihood. I will likely switch to Apple Music if this change occurs.
As a music student, the slow down, loop and pitch changing function are really helpful for me to learn an instrument, and the only reason I use ASD is because it can connects to my Spotify account! And I could not find any other app that can do it.
ASD is necessary for my study, I would rather use apple music if iOS/Android streaming SDKs stops.
Has there been any Spotify response on this? I see there are several threads on the forum, but haven't seen any answer or announcement from Spotify.
@florom, have they contacted you maybe through other channels?
Thanks.
I've been a Spotify subscriber for 10+ years, with this new development I'll unfortunately have to switch to Apple music.
I use Spotify mainly for ASD for learning and teaching music. Feeling gutted this is happening. 😢
Will have to find alternative ways when this comes to pass as it has already become part of daily life to use this.
I agree with the prior post.
I use the Amazing Slow Downer App as a musician learning new songs.
It doesn't make sense for me to pay for Spotify premium without this service.
Before Spotify cuts off access, why can't Spotify develop a similar functionality to their service?
I agree 100% with AtomGram.
I'm learning Accordion and Spotify+Amazing Slow Downer allow me to learn great Irish jigs and reels by ear! Please save the Amazing Slow Downer!
Agree! please don't make us go to Apple!!!
PLEASE reconsider absolutely this decision. I'm a music teacher and using ASD for my students. I'm really happy with this app and also with Spotify, mostly beacause I can change the pitch and the speed, so that my students can learn the songs. this was the major reason for me to sign in with Spotify. For me it's a great problem loosing this possibility. Please change your mind!
I will have to cancel my Spotify account if this happens. The only reason I use Spotify is the compatibility with Amazing Slow Downer. I am a working musician and use ASD to learn and teach songs to my students. It is an invaluable work tool and my subscription to Spotify will definitely end with it, as will happen to many more musicians around the globe. Please reconsider this decision Spotify!
I use Amazing Slow Downer and find it an important tool in supporting my musical development. I call on Spotify to reconsider this decision.
I have been a Premium Spotify member for over 5 years.
I LOVE using Spotify.
As a musician, I also LOVE using Amazing Slowdowner. 95% of the time I use ASD, I use it with Spotify.
If this functionality is no longer available, I will have to very strongly consider dropping my Spotify membership down to a lower level or altogether. Please consider the impacts!
Please reconsider allowing the amazing slowdowner to access Playlists that many musicians and teachers , including myself, use to practice their craft. I'm sure many will end up steering away from spotify if this permanently goes through. It's an invaluable tool and quite a bummer to see this 😞
I guess I'll be switching to Apple Music. The Amazing Slow Downer is essential in my learning and teaching music.
