Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs

Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs

We have been using those SDKs since they became available.

Our particular app (Amazing Slow Downer) lets the user play music more slowly, since a couple of years ago also songs from Spotify. The "ios-streaming-sdk" is a beautifully designed framework that lets an audio developer do practically everything needed.
In our case it makes it possible to access the raw audio samples and this way process the sound and then playback the processed audio using our regular audio playback engine. With your new SDK this is not possible. It might be that the "ios-streaming-sdk" is more difficult to use for an average developer but that also makes it more powerful.

We have many users that uses Spotify. Many users switch from other streaming services such as "Apple Music", Tidal, Amazon Music etc to Spotify just to be able to slow down streaming music in real time.

We believe our app gives Spotify many many new subscribers, so many that it would actually pay off for Spotify to maintain the "ios-streaming-sdk".

We only use "playlist" functions and after fixing a couple of bugs in the "metadata framework" available on github, everything works 100%. Although there are certainly some bugs in the “ios-streaming-sdk”, they are very few and don’t affect our app.

We also have an Android version of our app that uses your Android streaming SDK and it also works very good.

We believe Spotify will loose thousands of users, so many that the minimal cost Spotify need to spend on maintenance will pay off manifold.

Since our app also supports playback and slowing down of streaming Apple Music, many of our users will probably switch from subscribing to Spotify to subscribing to Apple Music.

You write:

"After September 1st, important functionality in the streaming SDKs will stop working."
Exactly what does that mean? What part of the SDK will continue to work?

Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs!

I hate Apple Music, but that would be an easy switch if this doesn’t get changed

As a guitar instructor the Amazing Slow Downer is the main reason I use Spotify.  If it no longer works I won't be continuing my subscription.

Please continue to allow ASD program to download Spotify content to study for musician purposes. That's been the reason I'm a Spotify Premium subscriber.

I'm very disappointed to see Spotify remove this functionality from their SDK. Streaming audio through the Amazing Slow Downer has been a life saver for me as a performing musician. Being able to slow down songs and learn them note for note is incredibly important and to me, and Spotify removing this capability makes me (and the SDK developers) immensely frustrated. I'm very likely to leave the platform because of decisions like this, and I hope your stock tanks because people are sick of watching your leaders behave with an amazing lack of empathy for the users.

I am a long time user of Spotify and use Amazing Slow Downer to learn music as a gigging musician. It would be a huge disappointment and would have to switch to another streaming service supported by Amazing Slow Downer if the ability to stream Spotify content from within the app is removed.

Me too.

I’m a professional singer and singing teacher. Having amazing slow downer and Spotify compatibility is such an important tool. That I would unsubscribe from Spotify and subscribe to apple in a heartbeat if Spotify were to cut it off..

I've been a paying Spotify user since 2011 and when I found ASD, it completed the whole Spotify experience. It's a shame that Spotify is going on this route, because I will turn to another streaming service who still cooperate with ASD and never come back. I will do my best to make other users leave Spotify as well.

Make your choice Spotify.

noooo don't take this away i only just discovered it! I will definitely need to find another way of learning tunes if this goes

As a long term Spotify user and budding musician, I am deeply disappointed that Spotify will no longer support the SDK that allows it’s integration into the ‘Amazing Slow Downer’ App.  It’s a tool that is used primarily by musicians. Why stop supporting it?

Please consider your customers, Spotify, and continue to support the SDK.

If I cannot use your service within the ASD app, I will reconsider my subscription.

Me too

I can’t deal with the uncertainty much longer, I will be switching to Apple Music soon.

I am a long term customer with Spotify and use the Amazing Slow Downer’ App to help with my music studies.

I am deeply disappointed  that Spotify are withdrawing their support for their integration into this App.  It is a musician’s tool and many teachers / students depend on it to assist with their musical studies.

Shame on Spotify.  I will be reconsidering my subscription with them and switching to another service should they withdraw their support for this App.  Apple Music may well become the beneficiaries of this inconsiderate and questionable decision.

Regards.

I have been a Spotify Premium subscriber since 2017 and I am also a musician. I use the ASD app every day to slow down songs from Spotify to learn them on guitar. This functionality is critical and I will not be able to maintain my subscription to Spotify without it. Please reconsider this decision.

I depend on the interface between Spotify and Amazing Slow Downer for my music education.  In my jazz classes students often are required to learn tunes by ear, and I have used Amazing Slow Downer with Spotify for that purpose almost exclusively. Without that capability I have no reason to subscribe to Spotify.

I’ve been using ASD with Spotify integration as tool to transcribe jazz records and become a better piano player for years. I strongly urge Spotify to reconsider so musicians like me can continue to learn and develop. If Spotify doesn't reverse the decision, I will switch to Apple Music.

They had the audacity to send me a follow up survey after refusing to acknowledge this problem and booting me over to the community where I have found many like-feeling folks. I will be ditching Spotify in a few days. Apple Music doesn’t support pitch adjustment either.  You can only alter speed. Ugh.
