We have been using those SDKs since they became available.
Our particular app (Amazing Slow Downer) lets the user play music more slowly, since a couple of years ago also songs from Spotify. The "ios-streaming-sdk" is a beautifully designed framework that lets an audio developer do practically everything needed.
In our case it makes it possible to access the raw audio samples and this way process the sound and then playback the processed audio using our regular audio playback engine. With your new SDK this is not possible. It might be that the "ios-streaming-sdk" is more difficult to use for an average developer but that also makes it more powerful.
We have many users that uses Spotify. Many users switch from other streaming services such as "Apple Music", Tidal, Amazon Music etc to Spotify just to be able to slow down streaming music in real time.
We believe our app gives Spotify many many new subscribers, so many that it would actually pay off for Spotify to maintain the "ios-streaming-sdk".
We only use "playlist" functions and after fixing a couple of bugs in the "metadata framework" available on github, everything works 100%. Although there are certainly some bugs in the “ios-streaming-sdk”, they are very few and don’t affect our app.
We also have an Android version of our app that uses your Android streaming SDK and it also works very good.
We believe Spotify will loose thousands of users, so many that the minimal cost Spotify need to spend on maintenance will pay off manifold.
Since our app also supports playback and slowing down of streaming Apple Music, many of our users will probably switch from subscribing to Spotify to subscribing to Apple Music.
You write:
"After September 1st, important functionality in the streaming SDKs will stop working."
Exactly what does that mean? What part of the SDK will continue to work?
Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs!

I am also a user of this app. I have been using Spotify for years (paying premium) so I have access to all the music I learn. I purchased the Slowdowner app a few months ago and was so excited that I could change the pitch of songs so I could learn to sing them in a comfortable key. I was shocked to try to use the app again only to find that Spotify will
not work with it anymore! I am very disappointed. Honestly this makes me want to cancel my Spotify subscription and just move to Apple Music.
Spotify, I hope you reconsider your decision and restore permissions. Thank You
What a pain that Spotify have discontinued this. I use it to practice piano & will need to reconsider whether I continue to subscribe to Spotify.
The reason I subscribed to Spotify is because of its ability to work with Amazing Slowdowner. Please reconsider your decision, Spotify.
I am a dance teacher and used the Amazing Slow Downer with Spotify at every class, until it stopped working. My students much prefer learning steps first to slower music, before dancing up to speed. I have now canceled Spotify and am using Apple music instead. But I would prefer to use Spotify, if it can work with ASD.
The choice to stop pairing with amazing slow downer is massively unfortunate to your musician subscribers. ASD is an excellent learning tool. Surely it would be in the best interest of Spotify, that offers unlimited music to the world, to support the people making the music by continuing to provide this compatibility. Please reconsider.
The choice to stop pairing with amazing slow downer is a gut punch to your musician subscribers. ASD is an excellent learning tool. Surely it would be in the best interest of Spotify, that peddles music to the world, to support the people making the music. Continuing to provide this compatibility is a fantastic way to do this. Please keep ASD working!
Can you please reconsider your decision on dropping 3rd party support for amazing slow downer- app? I'm using this app extensively and it's very dissapointing that i can no longer work with spotify songs!
Using amazing slow downer to slowdown songs for music education is the sole reason why I chose to switch from Deezer to Spotify. If you don't reconsider your decision I will switchback
Dear Spotify,
I am an avid user who pays for your streaming service. I use the Amazing Slow Downer to slow down recording of difficult pieces of music in order to complete my education in music education. My goal is to instill the passion of music into the next generation of students and potential customers to your platform. I am incredibly dissatisfied with your approach and I would greatly appreciate you return the capatibility of ASD with spotify. I have no qualms with taking my business elsewhere.
Thank you.
I too am a user of this app, which I use to learn guitar. In fact, this is the main reason why I subscribe to Spotify.
Please, reconsider keeping this SDK and keep ASD working!
Please reverse this decision. As a working musician this is more than 90% of what I use your service for and I’m just shifting pitch a half step on some songs to keep from having to retune while rehearsing set lists of songs. From awesome to useless. I’ll have to find another way to do this and with limited funds I’ll need to spend the Spotify money on the other method. Such a bad decision. I pay for both services. Why did you do this?
Using the Amazing Slow Downer with Spotify was a great boost to my drum practice, it's unfortunate that it's no longer possible to use it. I've just learned that Apple Music works with ASD, hence moving to Apple Music looks like my only option. Please consider providing the ability of ASD to integrate with Spotify.
I plan to cancel my Spotify premium account. I am a professional violinist and all of my colleagues are in the same boat since you stopped supporting the amazing slow downer app. Many of us use this app to practice our craft. It is disappointing and I would rather spend my money on an app that supports a feature that many of us counted on for honing our skill. To be clear, I have always enjoyed the user experience of Spotify over others, but not supporting amazing slow downer is a deal breaker for me. Reconsider your decision. You are alienating paying customers.
Retriction of ease of use is what drives people to use piracy instead. The easier you make the functionality of spotify the more likely people will prefer to use 'legitimate' services. It was so useful for transcribing solos but nevermind I guess. Fool are we for thinking we can keep what we pay for.
Absolutely no reason to discontinue the use of this service. It makes a Spotify account that much more valuable and the artist is still getting a stream. If Spotify is all about music then it should be also be about promoting musicians and ASD is an important part of honing a musicians craft in a digital age.
Note that amazing slow downer pitch correction and the left right slider do not work with Apple Music !?
is the right solution to move to local files ?
