Question about prohibited applications

Question about prohibited applications

My Question or Issue

I have a question regarding to prohibited applications policy, which is listed here: https://developer.spotify.com/policy.

More specifically, on #3, it specifies developers to "not create a voice-enabled SDA that enables a user to control Spotify with their voice, or any kind of voice assistant that provides voice-control functionality."

I have a chat application that uses LLM and function calls to play Spotify by calling Spotify APIs. In other words, I created an AI agent that controls music based on the user's needs.

Does this mean I can't use the mic button functionality in my iOS/Android keyboard to enable voice input to type in? Does my app only need to allow users to type in through keyboards?

Hi @dev26

Thank you for asking this in the Spotify Community, and Welcome!

Even though voice is first converted into text, this is seen as a voice controlled SDA. Therefore implementing this function into your app is prohibited.

I hope this answers your question. If you have further questions, the Community is here to help!
