Recently Played Tracks API

When it says that the limit to request your recently played tracks is 50, does that also mean that Spotify only stores your most recent 50 tracks listened? 

I requested for 50 recently played tracks then tried to use the cursor to request 50 more but ended up with a response of an empty array.
