Spotify DESIGN GUIDELINES for VR?

Solved!

Spotify DESIGN GUIDELINES for VR?

Hi!

We are building a Voice controlled, 30s Spotify app for the Meta Head Set, using the Spotify (and Google's Dialogflow) end points.

You can see a clip on this WebSite.

Our question is there Spotify DESIGN GUIDELINES for VR? Specifically, Attribution and Linking to Spotify.

Thanks

Herb Rush

Hi Ximzend,

Is there a way to request some sort of exception? Any Idea, who I can talk to about this.

We have invested a bunch of time and money on this and it would be as shame to have to retreat to another platform.

Not sure Spotify would want that either.

Are you a Spotify Employee?

Thanks

Herb Rush

This is a development project that is about mid stream.   It would be a shame to jump from Spotify to another platform at this point but if that is what needs to be done then so be it.   Before, we do anything I would like to have some one from Spotify contact me directly to determine if there any way to create an exemption.    Have a great day.

I'm sorry, but I am not a Spotify employee and I don't know how to to contact them directly.

Hi Ximzend,

Thanks for your response.

The Good News: Yesterday, we put up a video of an Augmented Reality Demo for Spotify. DFAssistants.com

The Bad News:   Without some sort of exemption from Spotify concerning the Voice Controls provision in the SDA, we are
going to Shut Down our Spotify Project.  A very sad and a whole lot of wasted money and effort.

I have no way to contact Spotify. I am just going to hope they are monitoring this forum and reach
to me to discuss an exemption. I am not holding my breath.

Some of the Prohibited activities were added after we started down this road.

Thanks

Hi Ximzend,

I have heard nothing from Spotify so we have pulled all of out Spotify work off of the Site (DFAssistants.com).    We accelerated a project we were doing to put Voice Controls into a Ticket Master Discovery App.    Our Plan was to put the Spotify App 30s app together with the Ticket Master app so when listening to the music - you could quickly and easily find if the artist "playing" was performing near by and get tickets.  Perfect time to sell tickets.  Any way without some sort of Exemption from Spotify we cannot go down that road.      Herb Rush

Hi Ximzend,

The SDA restriction says no voice controls over spotify content - effectively.   We have a Voice Controlled TicketMaster App.

Once the user selects a ticket master artist they found via Voice Controls.   Then we could find the corresponding

artists song on Spotify.  IMHO, this would get around the no voice control on spotify content restriction.

What do you think?  You seem to know the SDA fairly well.

Thanks

You can always request a quota extension when you have a working demo, and see if it gets accepted.

Hi Ximzend,

We rebuilt the app and are now ready to re approach Spotify.

===  we are going to approach Spotify with something like this any comments===

Hi Spotify

We need your help with a serious problem.  We have been a Spotify Developer for quite some time.

We build Voice Controls and Assistants in Unity.  Some one on the Forum pointed out that there were restricts on building/using voice controls.  We signed up before there was any Voice Control restrictions.

So we have brought this development to a halt immediately until we can clear this up.  No sense in investing in an app that we won’t be able to use.

Here is a link to a page with a link to the  incomplete app.

dfassistants.com/index.php/spotify-problem

This is 30 second preview audio app.

Our Questions.  You might not be able to answer but maybe you could forward and/or connect us to someone who can.

1) This is sort of a Unique situation.  Could we get some sort of exemption for Unity for the Voice Control Restrictions??

We would be happy to work with Spotify using Voice Controls from Dialogflow (Google).

2) Could we use the App as a demo?  Not go into production. In this case, we would show it to people but not ever release to the public.  Helps show case our talents.

3) Could we make a video using the App? Not ever show it to anyone in person or release it but have it appear in an video that might show up on YouTube or Vimeo.

We are prepared to walk away from the app if we cannot find a resolution.

Thanks for your help and insight.
