Basic Individual plan vs any premium plan

What are the actual differences between the Basic Individual plan and the premium ones?

Looks like it might be the access to the audiobooks, but spotify doesn't make it clear.

If anyone needs further proof of this, this is what I received after switching to Basic. They just never outlined it clearly before.

I just messaged support and they said the only different between Premium Duo and Basic Duo is that you don't get audiobooks in Basic (plus the price is lower for Basic). Must still be ad-free (better be! We're paying for a subscription to ensure that it is).

Spotify made figuring out this difference harder than it should have been. I was totally thrown off by the description under the Basic Family Plan saying you get 6 Basic Accounts. Then under the Premium Family Plan it says you get 6 Premium Accounts. Why call these different names when they provide the same functionality? Nowhere does it say that a Basic Account is the same as a Premium Account. It’s just bad naming conventions.

After chatting with them online.
It all comes down to audiobooks.
You pay extra to get them.
Problem is perception becomes reality.
Whether or not they meant to make it confusing on purpose is long longer the issue. They certainly give that impression.
They make it hard to respect their ethics.

Could someone please break down what is included in the Basic Duo plan? I’ve read all the info about the Premium Duo plan, but can’t find anything that compares it to the Basic. Does Basic Duo have ad free listening and downloads? What exactly are all the details?

The Basic plan contains the same benefits as all other Premium plans with the exception that the Basic plan does not have access to Audiobooks, which are included in the Premium plans.

TanyaS, the page you linked is not clear about what of the Premium Individual plan features are not included with Basic Individual plan (as of 6/24/2024 at least). For example it mentions:
All Premium plans include:

• Ad-free music listening
• Download to listen offline
• Play songs in any order
• High audio quality
• Listen with friends in real time
• Organize listening queue

So like with Basic I don't get Audiobook hours, which is clear, but like with Basic Individual do I also:

• Have Ads?
• Can't download to listen offline?
• Can't play songs in any order?
• No high audio quality?
• Can't listen with friends in real time?
• Can't organize listening queue?

Like I don't want to pay $1 less and listen to ads.

I am pretty sure with time they will update the documentation as the plan is very new but right now it's confusing.

UPDATE:

I switched my plan and it looks like Basic is just Premium with no Audiobooks, which is nice. After I switched the plan it tells me:

Enjoy Basic Individual benefits

• Ad-free music listening
• Download to listen offline
• Play songs in any order
• Cancel anytime
• High audio quality
• Listen with friends in real time
• Organize listening queue
• No included audiobook listening hours

I am pretty sure with time they will make it less confusing.

The only difference is that the basic plans do not include any Audiobooks that are included in Premium.

The "Premium Family" plan says it comes with "6 Premium or Kids accounts". The "Basic Family" plan says it comes with "6 Basic accounts".

What is a "basic account", in this case? I can't find any explanation of a "basic" account, only "free" and "premium".

Is the only difference that the "basic" account doesn't come with audiobook hours? Or are there more differences?

The only difference between both plans is the access to audiobooks. Unlike Premium, these Basic plans don't include audiobook listening time. But you can get audiobooks as one time purchases separately.

@tanyas This is incorrect. The only difference is the inclusion of audio book listening for the plan manager in the premium plan.

You are correct that the Basic Individual plan does not include audiobooks. But it is a 'basic' plan which implied ads and low-res audio.

Hello does the Basic plan also allow me to download my music for offline listening just like Premium? It seems like the audio book is the only change but have heard otherwise online.
