Downgrade from premium family to premium duo

I have been paying for a premium family plan for YEARS even though we are only two people. I want to downgrade to a premium Duo plan, but my partner will lose her mind if all her playlists disappear. The help page says that when I switch from Family to Duo, “At that time, family members will lose access to Premium.” if we are only two people on the plan, will she still be kicked off, and if that happens, will she lose her playlists?

To answer the first burning question - no, no playlists will be lost. The subscription and the library have no influence on one another, so even if you revert to free, all playlists stay intact. What matters is that you both keep using the same accounts as before, that way you will keep everything and all that changes is how you get your Premium.

You can try to change from Family to Duo here. Most likely, your wife will be removed during this process, but you just need to invite her again and everything should work as before. If switching between plans directly doesn't work, you can cancel your plan, wait for your account to revert to free and then resubscribe to Duo.
