My Question or Issue

 Whenever I try to accept my free google home mini at the google store, it says the discount code has automatically been applied, but when i get to checkout, it still tries to charge me. When I contacted google support about it they said that Spotify generates the codes and I would have better luck contacting them for help. that soounded a bit weird to me but maybe I'm wrong. Need some help here.

I'm sorry to hear this. Could you try requesting this again, using another browser or incognito mode? Also, if there are any error messages being shown, let me know.

I've tried multiple browsers, incognito mode, and a different computer. It always say it has applied the code and it will show up at checkout but the total never shows a discount at all

Thanks for getting back to us.


Keep in mind that you are only eligible if you are paying for a Premium for Family subscription. The Google Home Mini promo code should be sent to the email address associated with the email address that you have used to sign up for your Premium for Family account. It won't work if you are using a different account to sign up for the offer.


Keep in mind that the discounted price will be displayed at the checkout step.

I am having the same issue. I have tried everything I can think of but it still tries to charge me for the speaker.  I receive the message saying the discount code has been applied and then it shows a total of $53.74 and wants CC info. Does anyone have a screenshot of what things should look like?? Any ideas on what may be causing this problem? 

Same here. No matter what device, what browser. It always wants to charge me.

same with me...don't offer it as a benefit Spotify if you don't want to actually deliver against it

First, we'd suggest making sure to follow the steps below, in an incognito or private window in your browser:

  1. Log into your Spotify account
  2. Go to
  3. Select the colour of the device, and click Buy

Keep in mind that going to /redeem when logged in should automatically apply the code assigned to you. 


If that doesn't do the trick, we'd suggest reaching out to us by following the link here. This way, our support team can investigate further behind the scenes for you.

Is the offer still on?

Yes it is. I believe it goes on until early January.

BTW, I contacted Spotify via chat and they opened a case to investigate. They said they had many people with the same issue of the coupon code not pulling in. This past Friday I received my Google Home Mini without any notification. It just showed up on my doorstep!

Hopefully they have the issue resolved by now but if not, people should contact them directly.
