Hey @WalterWeight,
Thanks for getting back.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t count. You would only be eligible for the Basic plan if your subscription, which you started 6 years ago, were still active today.
As always, Spotify takes learnings whenever rolling out something for the first time. For now, the Basic plans are only available to existing subscribers who subscribed before a certain cut-off date.
I hope this clears things up! 🙂
Hey @WalterWeight,
Thanks for coming to the Community.
Unfortunately, to be eligible, you must have an active Premium Duo subscription that was started before some point in May of this year.
I hope this clears things up! 🙂
Thanks Maxim,
Technically, I did have premium duo prior to May of this year, although it was aproximately 6 years ago (but I guess that doesn't count!).
What I really want to know is, are plans for the basic tier to be available again to people who aren't currently subscribed to premium, as I'm don't want to pay for podcasts and audio books, when I've zero interest in them. I just want a music service.

Okay, thanks, I'll keep checking back from time to time.
I had Basic Duo when I checked out last month, and now this month I accidentally let my sub go. I’m having to re-subscribe and I don’t have the Basic Duo offer. I’m not sure how to get it back?

My Question or Issue
I've been a premium user for over a decade (typically using 12 month subscription gift cards each year). As this option is effectively no longer available (and don't tell me they may still be available in your local store etc - we all know they've been pulled for months) I was forced to sign up for a Premium Duo account and split the cost with my partner. I was hoping to sign onto Duo Basic as I've got zero interest in audiobooks. Sadly it's not listed for me as a renewal option. How can i switch to Duo Basic?
The level of duplicity Spotify operates under these days is astonishing. I can find zero clear guidance anywhere how you get offered 'basic' plans. Surely it's either an option or it is not. Selectively offering it based on criteria only known to Spotify surely at best is poor practice and at worst illegal? So can you please advise how users can switch to basic plans? These should be offered to all customers signing up regardless surely.
Poor.
