Hi @Tsagare,

Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community, and welcome!

No worries, changing subscription plans won’t cause anyone to lose their playlists or saved music.

You can change your plan from Premium Family to Premium Individual by following these steps:

  1. Go to your account page
  2. Select Manage your subscription
  3. Click Change plan
  4. Click Select under Premium Individual
  5. Click Update subscription to confirm

Your plan will be updated to Premium Individual at your next billing schedule, at which time your partner’s account will revert to the free plan.

Your partner can also leave your Premium Family plan at any time to start their own Premium Student plan by going to their account page, clicking Change plan (under Manage your subscription), and then scrolling to Spotify Free and clicking Cancel Premium. Your partner’s account will then be on the free plan, so they’ll then be able to sign up for Premium Student here.

Once your partner has received confirmation from SheerID via email that they’re eligible, and their payment details have been confirmed, their Premium Student subscription will be activated.

Feel free to read more about changing between different Premium plans in this support article, as well as to read more about starting a Premium Student plan in this other support article.

Let me know if you have any other questions, and have a good day!

Hello there,

For years I've had a family plan and no longer need it. I'd like to convert my existing family plan to a Premium Individual plan for myself, and a Student plan (for my daughter). We each have years of playlists and favorites and neither of us want to lose those. How do I go about making this happen? What does my daughter need to prove that she's a student?

Your plan will be updated to Premium Individual at your next billing date, at which time your daughter’s account will revert to the free plan.

Your daughter can also leave your Premium Family plan at any time to start her own Premium Student plan by going to her account page, clicking Change plan (under Manage your subscription), and then scrolling to Spotify Free and clicking Cancel Premium. Her account will then be on the free plan, so she’ll be able to sign up for Premium Student here.

When signing up for Premium Student, your daughter will be asked to log in to her college/university's portal, or to upload proof of her enrollment. Once your daughter has received an email confirmation from SheerID that she’s eligible, and her payment details have been confirmed, her Premium Student subscription will be activated.
