Payment failed, Basic Duo cancelled, can't select Basic Duo anymore

Hi there,

 

I recently made the switch to Basic Duo. Today, I got an email from Spotify saying my payment has failed, and my plan is switched to 'free'.

 

I have no idea why my payment has failed, the method has been the same for years and there were enough funds available. 

 

But more importantly, since new users can't select Basic, that option is now not available to me anymore, and I can only select 'Premium'. I have zero interest in audio books. 

 

Is it possible to know why my payment has failed, and why I'm now locked out of Basic (Duo)? That makes no sense, and seems kind of unfair.
