Spotify ads even on Premium

I’m paying premium and still getting Spotify ads on podcasts. And I’m not talking about ads within the podcast audio it self, I understand that the podcaster might contain or promote a product, I’m talking about Spotify ads that interrupt the audio completely. I’m already paying to Spotify, this is clearly soft scamming customers…

Spotify advertises that Premium allows users to enjoy ad-free music listening, which is one of its key benefits (as mentioned here). However, it’s worth noting that podcasts, whether you’re on Free or Premium, may still include ads. These can range from host-read endorsements and sponsorships to audio ads within the podcast itself.

Some podcasts also use a feature that dynamically inserts ads into the stream. This is managed by the podcast publishers, giving them more flexibility to add value to their content on Spotify.

It’s understandable that this can cause some confusion since Premium removes ads from music but doesn’t extend to podcasts. I hope this clears things up a bit regarding what’s included with Premium and why you may hear ads in podcasts.

Feedback from users is incredibly valuable, and Spotify is always working to improve transparency and provide more clarity about these features.

I am newly having the same issue with dynamic ads interrupting a podcast that I've listened to for quite some time. And it has only started this last week. The podcaster usually inserted their own ads, promos, which I was fine with. But the Dynamic ads are very abrupt (mid-word) and constantly happen just prior to the podcast host throwing to a break. So double the ads. I understand that the semantics state ad free music on premium, but its Very annoying that I'm now getting twice as many on podcasts.

I thought I was going crazy! I pay for premium but also pay for ad free content on certain podcasts. In the middle of a ad free episode I get Spotify ads. I should not have to skip Spotify ads to listen to the content I pay for. It’s bad enough Spotify doesn’t let me resubscribe to ad free content no matter what payment method I use 🙄

Pretty sure this is what they are talking about. It is one thing when the ad is intergrated seamlessly in to a podcast episode but it’s another when it’s an actually Spotify ad that interrupts the flow.

This is an absolute scam - if you are paying got premium, there should not be dynamic ads from Spotify in podcasts. It is making me reconsider my membership.

This isn’t confusion. It’s dissatisfaction. We pay a monthly subscription - you should pay the artists/podcasters better remuneration and ban adds of any kind in audio files. Sadly the beginning of the end, as hopefully another platform that offers a better product will start up in the next few years.

How is this a solution. When i registered for spotify it was ad free experience. Then spotify tried to push this**bleep** around 3 yeats ago. Same**bleep** explanation. Now ita trying it again. I am not paying to listen to 5-6 adds with increased volume every 30m just because you reworded what ad free means. Is this a permanent decision done by spotify to keep ads in podcasts? This makes the app for me worthless.

I second that. I just experienced this myself and woke up from a loud ad. They are just splitting hairs with what ad free is and they rebranded it to “it’s the creators not us”. Ad free means ad free.
