UX issue in Pay by mobile-sim

UX issue in Pay by mobile-sim

Plan: Premium

Country: Bangladesh

Device: Samsung M32

My Issue

While I trying to subscribe via the pay by mobile option, I did the following things.

  • Give my phone number without country code, like 181XXXXXXX and +880 were shown on the left of the input field. Hence I didn't provide the starting 0 of my number.
  • Then I received a pin code in my mobile number. And provide it in the input field.
  • It shows an error like "Insufficient amount in the provided account. Try later of another account."

Then I went back to the phone number input and did the following things.

  • Provided phone number with starting 0. So my number looks +880 0181XXXXXXX where it should look like +880 181XXXXXXX.
  • Then received the pin and provided it again.
  • Now the subscription was successful.

My Suggestion

  • If I have to provide the phone number with starting 0, then please show +88 in the country code section. Please, don't show +880. It's confusing. I was about to leave Spotify after 4-5 times failures.
  • If the backend didn't decode my phone number correctly, then how do I receive the pin code in the correct phone number? Are they using 2 different sources for these different actions? Shouldn't it be a single source of truth?

Thank you. Hopefully, the engineering team will resolve this issue. Thank you.
