provide people with the option to pay with a payment method from another country

Solved!

provide people with the option to pay with a payment method from another country

For people who move often (like my family in the EU) it is inconvenient and very costly to open bank accounts everywhere we move. Example: my bank is in my home country (NL). I started a Spotify Premium account in DK with a DK payment method (second bank account). Now we moved to AT and I have no need for yet another bank account (and the extra charges!) and my salary in EURO arrives in my NL account. The only solution that Spotify offers is to change my payment method to NL (where I have a EURO payment method), violating the contract with Spotify, where one has to pay where one lives (and vice versa). Catch 22? I think that Spotify is big and fat enough to provide a proper solution to its customers?

Hey again @Frassie!

On the other hand, it might also be a good idea to reach out to Spotify Private Support for more information.

Keep me posted on how it goes!

Hey there @Frassie! Thanks for reaching out.

I'm afraid it’s not possible to add a payment method from a different country than the one set in your account settings.

The country or region on your Spotify account is based on where you were when you first signed up. If you move to another country where Spotify is available, you’ll need to update your account’s location. This way, you’ll get access to the right version of the service for your new country, which might include changes to pricing and available content.

That said, you’ll need to add a valid payment method that was issued in the same country where you're currently based.

Hope this clears things up!

I want to subscrive to premium duo but would like to use a credit card from an account based in.a different country (France) than my spotify account (Belgium)

It appears that the paiement MUST come from same country which is an issue for me.

How to solve this?

 Belgium

Hey @Fredlemerou, thanks for reaching out to the Community!

Yes, that’s correct. The country/region your payment method is based in, must match the country/region listed on your Spotify account. In your case, since you’re in Belgium, you will need to use a payment method that is based in Belgium. A workaround for this would be to purchase gift cards at leading retailers near you, and the redeem it following these steps

There’s also more info on how country and region settings can be updated on this page

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your reply, MatteusM; it is not that I don't understand how it works. What I claim is that Spotify does not provide a good-level-of-service at this point. So, I would say that the issue is still not resolved. But that is how I - the customer look at it (and others that have posted about the same issue).
