My Question or Issue

Me and my partner have to separate Spotify premium accounts for years. We do not want to start from scratch all over again with a new (family or similar) account but we were wondering if you can combine two existing accounts into premium duo without losing preferences, playlists, likes, history etc.  We do live together at the same address 🙂

Hi @FRANZ_0101,

Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community!

No worries, you can keep your same Spotify account no matter which plan you switch to or from. So yes, you and your partner can switch to Premium Duo without either of you losing any of your playlists, saved music, settings, listening history, etc.

Either you or your partner can sign up for Premium Duo here as the plan manager, and then invite the other member to the plan by following these steps

Feel free to read more about switching between different subscription plans on Spotify in this support article, as well as to read more about how Premium Duo works in this FAQ article

Note that members can only switch between different Premium Duo or Premium Family plans once in 12 months.

Let me know if you have any other questions, and have a good day!

Thanks @AdamDamon for the info - very clear, much appreciated.
Could you also help to clarify: if the secondary member is already on a Spotify individual account, once they log in with the Duo invite, will their payments be automatically cancelled?
-> And only the account manager is paying for Duo for both their accounts from now on.

Thanks!

Hey @Mch_GP,

Thanks for joining the conversation!

That's correct. When another user joins your Duo plan, even if they're on their own individual subscription, they will stop being charged and only the plan manager will be charged for the Duo subscription for both accounts.

Hope this sheds some light on the matter. The Community will be here if anything else comes up.

Cheers!
