My Question or Issue

When selecting play on a daily playlist the songs that are added to the queue will not be in the order they are displayed on the playlist and some songs will even be swapped out entirely.

Hey @Cadavra,

Thank you for taking the time to report this in the Community.

This is a very odd behavior indeed, however, we're glad to hear that the app works as it should for you now.

Hey @Cadavra,

Thank you for reaching out here in the Community.

Could you please let us know if this happens only with your Daily Mixes (all of them) or with any playlist?

We'd also need to know how you start the playback on your device. From where do you access the playlist? Is it from Home Page, Made For You section or from somewhere else?

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

I had only ever noticed it happening with the daily mixes specifically, when testing it yesterday it occurred on every daily mix available to me. I launch them from the top of the home page most often but I also launched through the made for you section while testing.

Of course this morning when going back through to reproduce once again today's refresh seems to have synced properly between the song list in the mix and the actual queue once play is selected. As an additional note when this bug has occurred I have triple checked that I did not have the playback set to shuffle.

I don't think this is solved. I am still seeing this exact behaviour.

On Desktop App

Go to a daily mix

Note that the list is ordered by "#" (apparently this is "custom order")

Ensure none of the two (two! why?) different indicators of random order show shuffle is turned OFF

Click one of the 3 (three! why?) ways to play (I've tried big green button, little play icon next to track, highlighting track and clicking play at the bottom)

Observe that the expected track starts playing

Look at the play queue, note that the order of tracks listed is NOT the same as the tracks listed in the Daily Mix track listing

Why is this so weird?

Hey there @bargolf,

Thanks for your reply here and welcome.

This is indeed odd. Rest assured we'll do our best to help. We'd suggest you perform a clean reinstall, so you can make sure you're running the latest version of the app and that the stored cache is not leading to this behavior. You can follow the steps here to do it.

If the issues persist afterwards, we'd like to gather some additional info. Please send us:

  • The make/model and OS of the affected device.
  • The exact Spotify version you're running.
  • Does this happen when using the web player?
  • Are you using Connect to control the playback on a different device?
  • Did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update?

Keep us in the loop!
