My Question or Issue

This is the ultimate 'first world problem' I know.       I'm learning Spanish, and as part of the process have been listening to one particular Spanish song repeatedly, and also built up a Spanish song playlist.     As a result (of repeatedly playing the same song, I suspect), my 'Discover Weekly' playlist is now filled exclusively with Spanish tracks, and everything Spotify has 'learned' about my preferences over the past x years appears to have been 'forgotten'.     Is there anything I can do to persuade Spotify that I never want to hear a Spanish language song again?    Otherwise I can't see me building up a decent history again for a very, very, very long time.

You can always use the Private listening mode while you listen to songs that you don't want to influence your recommendations.

You can dislike (Hide) songs that show up in your Discover weekly- that you don't want to listen to- to get better recommendations. Sure it's not the most elegant solution, but give it a try. I'm not entirely sure on this, but if you dislike all Spanish songs or artists showing up on your D.W playlist Spotify might automatically revert back to your old set of preferences (along with the ones you're listening now).

Thank you Vyshnav, I didn't know about the private listening mode so will investigate. I've already gone through the DW list and hidden the unwanted content so I guess time will tell how much relearning the algorithm requires. Thanks again.

The algorithm is ruining Spotify for me. I enjoy many genres of music and have created long playlists with mixed musical format. The algorithm continuously hones in on the most recent played tracks. regardless of how long and mixed my playlist is, I keep hearing the same tracks, same theme, same musical genre, which now seems to reinforce itself, believing what it has decided, to be my preference. The private session is only applicable when listening directly from your mobile device, and also seems to be designed around publicizing you’re listening activity.

Spotify, please consider that many of us know what we want to play, and give us an opportunity to opt out of the automated algorithm…
