My Question or Issue
When searching for personalized playlists, Google Assistant devices re-direct to random albums with similar names.

I've got a routine within the Google Home app to “shuffle my daily mix 3 on Spotify” 

Until mid April it worked as expected, recently it’s starting playing Daily Drive. I’ve messed around with the wording & sometimes it plays songs recommend to me (Based on the album Daily Mix 3 by Luis Masters) but will no longer play the thing I’m after.. My daily mix 3. 

This has been an issue in the past with the album by Luis masters, I got around it by changing the wording but no luck this time.  

Can this be looked into please.

To investigate this again on our side, @chrixar, @marcolopespt and @Tagro1 include the following info in your next response: 

- Your device info (make/model) and OS version

- Exact Spotify version


Also, and if possible; could any of you record a short video where we can take a better look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).
 

We'll be on the lookout for your response.

After going through this thread it doesn't seem like the Spotify team is doing much to resolve the issue. Which is very disappointing since we are paying for this service.

 

The bug is simple, when Spotify comes across an ambiguous playlist name it resolves the ambiguity by selecting a public playlist with a name that closely resembles the playlist name. What everyone is asking for is for the ambiguity to rather be resolved by selecting a personal playlist from the users library.

 

It is not good enough saying this is a Google issue, Google sends the command to spofity, Spotify should resolve the ambiguity

There is MORE than meets the "eye" here! Why?

Because ROUTINES (defined for Google Home devices) ARE NOT running!!!

As I said before... if we ask the device "Sleep" and "Sleep" IS a ROUTINE defined, it should have PRIORITY before Google assumes it is a MUSIC COMMAND!!!!!!

It is NOT!

I have a routine called "Sleep", it worked when this bug was NOT ACTIVE. Now "Sleep" Plays a Spotify Playlist called SLEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!

So... this can be part Spotify fault too... seems it's 50/50!

An artist had a brilliant idea to name one of their songs "my liked songs", when you use the voice prompt to play my liked songs playlist it plays the artists song. Pretty genius idea but highly annoying when using Google assistant & Android Auto.

FIX THIS!

I have just discovered that if you type Playlist: playlistname Shuffle in the google home automation, it will play a playlist with that name and shuffle it as well. Just name your playlist something obscure or very specific and you shouldn't have any more trouble with it. It will even work with your Daily Mix playlists that spotify creates for you

This is NOT a solution!

Users should not be forced to RENAME "all" their playlists just that they are NOT confused with other playlists!

This worked just fine!

Dude, give it up. they are not going to fix it.  Register with youtube music, it works. I did this and remade all my playlists becuase i know that Spotify arent going to resolve this.

Why when i tell google to play my daily spotify starts to play a sequence of "daily intros" one after the other instead of the actual daily playlist?

Like all i get is "Your monday daily..You tuesday daily..." and so on 

Why would you mark this as a solution when it is completely the opposite of a solution? This as been going on for more than a year, as been fixed once and yet you still pretend as if its something you cannot reproduce.

And yes, it's NOTHING more than a message asking users to give all feedback possible and NOT A SOLUTION!!

I think moderators want to bring attention to that specific answer and they mark it as a solution.

 

YES, THIS ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN SOLVED, not by Spotify, not by Google (or BOTH)

Everyday i "fight" with my devices just to be able to play a SIMPLE PLAYLIST using VOICE COMMANDS!!!

Instead the device plays LPs with the same name!

 

For the 100th time, SPOTIFY!!!!: this was already FIXED last year by YOU and GOOGLE!

 

The FIX is "simple"! SEARCH priority should be

1) USER PLAYLISTS

2) OTHER PLAYLISTS

3) LP's

4) SONGS

As simple as that!

 

I will try to resume what to search and the respective ORDER! When user SAYS:

1) "Play xxx" (search USER PLAYLISTS -> OTHER PLAYLISTS -> LP's -> SONGS)

2) "Play playlist xxx" (search USER PLAYLISTS -> OTHER PLAYLISTS)

3) "Play LP xxx" (search LP's)

4) "Play SONG xxx" (search SONGS)

 

The Google / Spotify API worked this way... they stopped working this way... after the first FIX they resumed working this way, and for MONTHS now, they are not working this way!!!

Just fix this again! Please!!!

Ok. I have no idea. Isn't google picks wrong playlist. I don't think you can find a playlist with only the intro of the daily playlist from monday to sunday even if you want to. What should i do?

I have the same problem.

 

Previously, saying "Hey Google, shuffle my 'Playlist Name' playlist" would successfully shuffle my playlist.

 

A few months ago, it stopped working. Any variation on the command would likewise fail. It was as if my playlist no longer existed to Google Home. (Yet I could play the playlist directly through Spotify.)

 

A workaround fixed it.

  1. Rename playlist to 'Playlist Name0' 
  2. Select to 'Add to other playlist'
  3. Select 'New playlist'
  4. Name the playlist to 'Playlist Name'
  5. Delete the cloned playlist (the one with the '0')
  6. Previously working commands would then work again.

Yesterday, the same issue started happening. This time, the above workaround does not help. Spotify will not play my playlists through Google Home.

 

This issue is incredibly frustrating. I have a Premium family account and this is a primary use-case for my family. Must we seek out an alternative service for music?

NOTE: It's NOT perfect, but now at least, the PERSONAL playlists are searched FIRST, then other playlists. Sometimes i have to add the word PLAYLIST to get the correct one, but that's the least of my problems.

This is crazy.  Just had this happen to me when I added a pair of Nest Audio speakers to my system.  For the entirety of my existence with Google Home I've been able to say "play my playlist Rock" and get my Spotify playlist "rock".  Always.

Now... NEVER.  It always picks something else.  I can say "play my playlist", "play spotify playlist", "play custom playlist", etc ad nauseum and NOTHING works.  

I've tried unlinking and relinking.  I've tried logging out of spotify and back in again.  EVERYTHING ON THE PHONE IS UPDATED.  Don't ask me dumb questions.

This was working - perfectly - a few days ago.  Now it doesn't work.  NOTHING HAS CHANGED.

How do I fix this?  Without being able to get playlists to play Google Home is close to useless.

It's still not fixed for me...

I don't want a workaround. I pay for Spotify Premium. And it's stupid that i can't play a playlist by telling google home to do so.

In the era of AI and similar, spotify can't manage to do do a simple task.

Why does it even play a playlist of just introductions anyway? the sense? where even is such playlist?

I have to open the daily playlist manually by going at the google home and touch the screen.. the sense to have assistant if then spotify can't even play what i want it to play?
