Hidden songs in my playlist cannot be unhidden

Solved!

Hidden songs in my playlist cannot be unhidden

I hid songs in my playlist a while ago. I can no longer unhide them. I do have the function that I can click on, but this doesn't result in any reaction on the smartphone. On the PC, after pressing it several times, I get a banner where I can undo the hiding, but pressing undo doesn't do anything there either. Even when I search for the song, I find it, but I can't play it there or unhide it. Occasionally, I get a message on the PC saying I have to unhide the song on the smartphone, but it doesn't work on either device. So I wanted to ask for help here. Is there already a solution to this problem that I don't know about?

I‘m using Spotify on version 9.0.50.511 on my smartphone (IOS 18.5)

Thanks for joining thread, @mrsines03! Sorry to hear that, let's pick it up from here! Heads up: I've removed the attachment from your reply as it contained private info.

It seems that the issue occurs only with specific songs/artists hidden a long time ago. @Joah, would you mind sharing the links to the songs you're having issues with? We'll forward the details to our tech team who'll investigate further.

In the meantime, you can try liking the song (from the three dots menu > Add to Liked Songs) to see if that helps undo the hide.

Cheers 🤘

Hey there @Joah,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

Keep in mind that you'll find the option to unhide songs only within the playlists. We'd recommend you perform a clean reinstall of Spotify on the affected devices. By doing that, the app can be up-to-date, and you can make sure the stored cache is not leading to this behavior.

If issues persist afterwards, we'd like to gather some additional info:

  • The exact Spotify version you're running on your computer.
  • Does this happen if you try to unhide the songs by using the three-dot menu? If not sure, you can tap the three-menu you see next to the song names within the playlist and select the Show in this playlist option.
  • Does this happen within a specific playlist or with a particular song? If yes, share with us the links to them.
  • Did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event, such as an OS update?
  • Does this happen if you try a different device, such as an Android mobile? If possible, you can ask for the Android cellphone of a relative or a friend to open your account there and check.

Keep us in the loop!

Hey @AlejaR,

first of all thank you for the quick reply. I have now reinstalled Spotify. Unfortunately, this did not solve the problem.

  1. On my computer I am running the Windows (64-bit) version 1.2.65.255.g85e641b4.
  2. Even when I use the three dots, the song cannot be unhidden. On the computer, the only option I have with the three dots is the one that says "hidden." When I click on it, the small menu disappears, but nothing else happens. If I quickly click the red circle with the line right next to the song several times without opening the menu with the three dots, a white banner appears at the bottom with the text: "You asked us not to play this track in [name of the playlist]" with an undo button. If I press the undo button, nothing happens either. On my iPhone, I can select "Show in this playlist" using the three dots. But here, too, the menu simply disappears without unhiding the song.
  3. Unfortunately, I can't say whether the error is related to an OS update.
  4. I also tried unhiding the song on an old Android device, but it didn't work there either.

Hey there @Joah,

Thanks for all the info shared.

Just to confirm, does the same happen if you open a different account on the affected devices? You can ask for the account of a relative or a friend to open it on your devices and check.

Please let us know if this is happening on a specific playlist when trying to restore some particular tracks or the content of a single artist. If yes, share with us the links to those.

Lastly, it'd be awesome if you sent us a video recording of this behavior. You can attach the video to your next reply in mp4 format, or upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public.

We'll be on the lookout for your reply!

I have this too. I've been emailing back and forth with costumer support trying to fix it for over a week, but now they just closed my ticket without solving the issue.

I'm currently experiencing the same issue. After a week of back-and-forth with the customer support team, they closed my ticket without resolving the problem.

Update:

Hey Yordan,

I managed to fix the error with one song yesterday by removing it from the playlist and adding it again. It could be a slightly different version or from a different album, but I can't say for sure. Thanks to your suggestion about adding it to the liked songs, I've now managed to fix the error with the other songs as well. I'm also certain it's the error you described, since I remember it was a long time ago when I hid the songs.

Here is the link to the song where I fixed the error by removing it from my playlist and adding it back:

https://open.spotify.com/intl-de/track/7LVHVU3tWfcxj5aiPFEW4Q

Here are the two links where I fixed the error by adding it to the liked song list:

https://open.spotify.com/intl-de/track/2RMOBBhmPVidB2BFybS3ai

This solved the problem for me, thank you very much. However, I'm happy to provide any further information to help others and the tech team resolve the issue.

Yes! Liking the songs worked. Thank you both for the help!

Awesome job, folks! 😎 Glad to hear everything's working well now. I've forwarded the info to our tech team, thanks again for the feedback!
