My Question or Issue
For some reasons I have 100s of liked full albums in my library. Is there an easy way to mass unlike them all? I never like a full album and I don't know how this happened.
I have used Last.fm in the past and have revoked its access in case thats where the problem is.
It is pretty critical since my Discover Weekly and Release Radar are **bleep** compared to my taste. I have had this problem for a while but only now discovered the cause.
Hey @thomasjespersen, thanks for reaching out to the Community!
There are indeed two ways to remove an album, added by accident to your Liked Songs.
On a mobile device, you can go to the album and then click the 3 dots in the upper right corner of the app. The context menu will appear with the option to like or unlike all songs.
On a desktop you can either Heart/Unheart all songs from the album view or remove multiple entries from the Liked Songs playlist by selecting them with Ctrl/Shift + click, right-clicking, and selecting Remove from your Liked Songs.
If you'd like to see the multiple select functionality extended onto the mobile app, you can consider adding your +VOTE to this idea.
Hope this helps!
If I shift click an album nothing happens. Everything in the left panel is not shift or ctrl clickable.
Hey @thomasjespersen,
Thanks for the reply! To confirm, are you wanting to remove songs from an album or remove entire albums in Your Library?
Keep me posted.
OK, I have 4,000+ songs liked in Spotify, and when I follow instructions for Windows 11 (Ctrl+A, right click to clear all likes) it responds "Something went wrong".
Any ideas
Hey @mijas1999, thanks for your post.
You may have to start by sections at a time, because that may be due to different computer and software limitations. If you try to select a few songs and that error message still appears, please let me know the make and model of your device, and a screenshot of the message, if possible, so I can take a closer look.
Thanks!
Deleting albums from my library is only possible with my phone. the desktop app doesn't let me. And only one by one. For 10 hours I managed to delete only 10% yet. Is it so hard to implement this feature?
Hey @rommelhoek,
Thanks for your post. This Idea has been suggested here, and I’d recommend adding a vote and comments to show your support.
Can you let me know what happens when you follow the steps provided in my first reply? You can send me a screen recording of what you’re seeing and I will take a look.
Keep me posted!
Hi Billy. Thanks for the reply.
What happens is quite simple, on my phone I can like / unlike albums and like / unlike singles one by one as you described. by clicking the plus(+) or green (v) dot. No problems. If I do this on my desktop app however, the plus / green dot jumps back in the original state when I leave and re-enter the page. For some years now, despite clearing cache, switching computer or updates / reinstall..
Anyway my problem is that for +8 years ive been "liking" albums just to mark them as allready being checked.
Now, I just want a fresh new album library with only the albums I like instead of all albums and singles I checked. I've been deleting singles and albums since two months now whenever I have some spare hour or some minutes at the toilet.... and there are now still tens of thousands singles / albums to be deleted. That's very frustrating and time-consuming while a one-click solution would be easily to implement?
I have over 100 playlists and afraid to try some open source "mass delete" tool... Probably will be finished deleting all albums and singles from my library in a month or two... if I find enough time. So asking for a solution for this very real problem in the future isn't relevant for me in the year 2025 I guess. But it's a first world problem after all so I keep smiling.
I've found a good method now. I had around 5000 songs in my Liked list. What I did was quite effective in unliking the songs. I did it by logging in Spotify in my browser.
- open the Liked songs list
- press and hold the CTRL button
- mouseclick (left button on mouse) one song while keep holding the CTRL button
- press and hold the SHIFT button
- scroll down to the buttom of the list and mark a song with a mouseclick, left button on mouse
- mouseclick (right button on mouse) on the green button on the right side of the column, and click on the "unlike" menu alternative.
with this method I was able to unlike several hundred song in one click.
