How to Disable Enhanced

How to Disable Enhanced

All my playlists have been filled with Enhanced recommendations. I read up and found to remove them I just needed to click Enhanced, so I did and a few were removed but the majority remained - so for now the playlists are just about unuseable.

So is there a way to totally disable Enhanced with automatic clean up of everything it has polluted - it's an appallingly intrusive feature to force on customers

How can you do it if you don’t have premium because I can’t find that button but I have lots of random songs going into my playlist

Hey @Joel12345,

Enhanced is a feature that is unavailable to the free tier of the app.
Could you tell us more about the random songs popping up in your playlist though? Maybe you're referring to the autocomplete function that adds songs until you have at least 15 tracks in your list?
Let us know and we'll gladly take a look at what the cause for the situation might be 🙂
We'll be on the lookout for your response!

Yes I have atleast 30

I’m not even listening to my playlist at this point I get about one of my songs from my playlists every 4-5 songs.

Hey @Joel12345,

Thanks for the info!

Could you take a look how your queue looks like when this happens?
If more tracks are queued up and shuffle is on (by default on free), it's likely that some songs that are in the queue but not from your playlist will shuffle with everything else 🙂

Keep us posted!

@vasil I don’t know how to find shuffle and queue

I only have 1 main playlist and 2 others which defo don’t have any of those songs

Hey @Joel12345,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Queue icon looks like this Lyubka_0-1679126262702.pngand it's located in the bottom right - corner on the Now Playing View. In other words - the screen of currently playing song. Screenshot of NPV below.

The way the queue currently works is that the items you manually add take priority over the song/playlist/album you were listening to, so they will play next after the current song finishes playing. More info about how you can manage your queue can be found in this article.

Shuffle button looks like thisLyubka_1-1679126021213.png and it's located on the bottom left corner of the screen. When it's turned on - it becomes green

Lyubka_2-1679126042818.pngMeaning the tracks in your playlist will play randomly. Check out this article to find out more about the Shuffle option.

As @Vasil mentioned Spotify adds songs to playlists and albums on the free mobile version and the more you listen, the better suggestions you get. You can check this FAQ for more info.

Hope you find this useful 🙂

It would still be useful to say "disable enhanced feature" in settings. I have apparently hit it twice 'by accident' (according to you).

I NEVER want your songs in my playlists. I went to the trouble of creating dozens of playlists because your algorithm for selecting songs you are sure I am going to like sucks. (You lump German Heavy Metal together with German Folk because they are both in German. Trust me when I say, that they don't go together, even though they are in the same language.)

I repeat I Never want you to put songs in my playlists. I don't even want you to recommend songs for my playlists. You suck at updating my playlists. Your playlists are anything special either, I would think you had enough to do managing your own without polluting mine

Every time I turn it off and exit the app or even back out of the playlist it turns it back on. So I have to disable it EVERY TIME I enter my likes songs…how do you permanently disable?

What do you mean by in the queue

I followed these instructions exactly and when I re-installed the app my Liked Songs playlist was still in Enhance mode with no option to turn it off.

I have the same issue! Reinstalled and still no Enhance button. So annoying!! If not fixed I will close my account and go to another service!!!!

Hey @KKoziol,

Could you let us know what you're seeing when you open your Liked Songs for example?
Are you receiving song suggestions from Enhanced without having the Enhanced button?
If yes - could you send us a screenshot so that we can have a better look please?

Any details would be of great assist!

We'll be on the lookout for your response and do our best to help out 🙂

Many thanks!

No ENHANCE button to be found - yet it inserts songs in my LIKED library and playlists...

Hey @KKoziol,

Thanks for getting back to us.

The Enhance button might be replaced by the Smart Shuffle feature for some users. This new feature is being gradually rolled out to everyone, hence the Enhance button is no longer present on your device.

Based on the screenshot you've sent us, we can assume that you have the newest Smart Shuffle feature turned on on your playlist. Once you activate Smart Shuffle, you immediately get customized recommendations added to your queue. New recommendations are added every day - so your favorite playlist will stay fresh.

If you don't want the recommendations - you can simply turn it off. You can turn Smart Shuffle on or off whenever you want by tapping through the Shuffle button Lyubka_1-1685685043979.png at the top of your playlist or on the Now Playing View. It'll become gray when you turn it off.

You can find more info about the Smart Shuffle in this article. If you have any input about this new feature - you're welcome to share it in this thread as your feedback is important to us!

We hope this shines some light on the situation. Let us know if you have any further questions 🙂

Are you saying I have to shut off shuffle entirely in order to not have enhanced? Or is there still an option to shuffle without enhanced?

Hey @KKoziol,

Thanks for the post.

You should be able to turn on Shuffle without Enhanced, by clicking the button again. The current Smart Shuffle button has 3 states:

  • Grayed out - Shuffle is turned off. Songs will play in order and there will be no additional songs added.
  • Green - Regular Shuffle is turned on. Songs will play in random order and there will be no additional songs added.
  • Green with a little Star - Smart Shuffle is turned on. Songs will play in random order and there will be additional songs added.

Hope this helps.
