How to remove Obama from my Home section

How to remove Obama from my Home section

Using Spotify on my phone, on the 'Home' section. I have 'recently played' 'top podcasts' and other music and podcasts that relate to my interests and listening habits.

Spotify recently added a section called 'Higher Ground' and EVERY listing is Obama related. The Obama podcast, Obama's favourite songs, Obama's workout playlist, Obama's Valentine playlist.

This has nothing to do with anything I listen to, nor do I intend to listen to any of this. I'm quite annoyed Spotify has put agenda politics in my home page and there seems to be no simple way to say "no thank you" and remove it from my home screen.

Does anybody know how to remove this section? I tried searching for answers to no avail.

In some cases, commercial considerations may influence our recommendations, but listener satisfaction is our priority and we only ever recommend content we think you’ll want to hear. Our recommendations rely on signals from you, so keep on listening to the songs and podcasts you love!

In the meantime, if you'd like to see the functionality of a customizable Start Screen, you can consider adding your +VOTE to this idea. We'll inform on any developments there, as soon as there are any. So make sure to subscribe, if you haven't already.

Hope this info is useful. Let us know if there's anything else we can help with.

I'm just going to have to cancel premium for all my relatives. Hoping that Amazon's Music service doesn't pull these native ads for paying customers.

Hey @WispenCookie, thanks for reaching out to the Community!

Could you try logging out > restart device > log back in? If that doesn’t help, attach a screenshot of what you’re seeing exactly and I’ll take a closer look for you.

Looking out for your reply!

Note: I'm not a Spotify employee.

I've canceled my Premium Plan because of "Higher Ground".  It has NOTHING to do with my listening preferences.  I'm not paying for Spotify's catering to biased agenda.

I had this problem too but it changed back to normal the next day. Now, I still have the 'higher ground' podcast on all my devices but it has moved to the 4th row. I'm guessing yours will resolve soon.

That's good news and info AWildYouth . . . But, 4th row is not gone. I want it off. There is nothing in the Higher Ground playlist that even resembles my preferred listening. Spotify does that with other "recommendations" as well . . . a lot not closely related to my listening preferences - and I am diversified in my music listening. My resolution has been done. Cancelled effective the 20th. Best wishes.

I agree with the above—this is REALLY annoying and I plan to cancel my premium account if this isn’t resolved...

I’d be as annoyed if not MORE annoyed if a “Trump” podcast came onto Spotify. Please for the love of God give us a break and let us just listen to music WITHOUT politics.

Checking today, the higher ground changed to a section called "michelle Obama Podcast''. I logged out of the Spotify application, restarted my phone and logged back in. It is still there and I took a screenshot.

When I am on my desktop computer, there is a section called "black music matters" that I would like to remove as well. Rap isn't my cup of tea.

Sorry for replying late, emails were going into my spam.

This is the most effective way to communicate. The annoying thing is that because this podcast is being advertised EVERYWHERE, they will probably renew it and brag about how popular it is. Literally buying approvals and ratings.

YES!!! PLEASE remove the Obama face from my phone home screen!!!

Numbers no longer speak for themselves. The illusion does.  I'm sad to see Spotify buy into this game. Just want my music - my pods - MY choice what I want to see on my app.  Already switched.  They cut me off on the 20th!!

Yep.  Now it's the Michelle Obama Podcast.  Spotify doesn't get it.  Don't want to see ANYTHING Obama, BLM, political, "cause" related, etc..  I want to control what I want to see on my app, and any Spotify recommendation should be based ONLY on my listening trends.  Folks, the only way Spotify is going to get it is if you drop them en masse and tell them why.

I agree. It should not appear on the Home screen. There is nothing in my listening history that would suggest I would be interested in the MO podcast, BHO music lists or anything related to BLM. This is purely political bias and a subtle way to influence people's beliefs. Spotify, if you're going to promote the MO podcast, then you should promote people with different belief systems. Best of all, don't promote anything political unless it's based on the person's listening history.

Yes, I agree. Either offer a broad spectrum or none at all! Spotify
definitely appears to be bowing to an agenda. As far as listening, to each
their own. However, I still think I should be able to remove from my page
what I am not interested in . . . podcast, music, or otherwise.

I am cancelling my account because of this! I pay for the ability to pick what I see and to not see junk and ads!

Mine is cancelled effective the 20th!

I was on with chat yesterday and asked how to remove The Michelle Obama Podcast. The lady on chat said that we can't discuss this any further and disconnected me. I went on chat again today and asked how to remove a podcast from my home screen. They didn't disconnect me but it went nowhere. They need a not interested button like they have for music.

I seriously hope subscribers will step up and let Spotify know how much it's disappointed a good portion of it's listening base.  If they continue this, more **bleep** is to follow.  All paid for by subscribers who don't appear to have spoken loudly enough yet . . . I sincerely hope I'm wrong, and that paying subscribers will demand the privileges they pay for, or otherwise cancel.

Where is the chat feature? I can't find it. I want to try this as well.

Not sure where the chat feature is located.  I believe that was mentioned on a musiclistener13 post.  Good idea, unless they do you like they did musiclistener13.

Oh, and on my last post  . . .  I see Spotify Community bleeped out a word.  Kinda ridiculous because it was very mild.  I used the word c__p.  Fill in the blanks  - only 2 letters.  You will see how ridiculous that was.  Spotify airs offensive material that does not allow the paying user to remove (as discussed in this forum), but freaks out on the word c__p???  Seriously????
