Invite collaborator doesn't work - former collaborator removed

Solved!

Invite collaborator doesn't work - former collaborator removed

Free Plan / Italy / from Browser (so no cache/update version problem)

A friend of mine informed me that suddenly he can't collaborate in my playlist. I didn't log in for like a month. I realised that I can't invite anyone, I click the button or in the menu and nothing happens. Playlist is public, added in my profile. The same problem is shared between all of my playlists. My friend (obviously we follow each other) doesn't have nothing similar from his part with me. I can do everything in his playlists.

I tried setting first private and then public; I tried removing every device logged in; I cleared my browser; checked all the settings... Nothing changed.

Is there any solution?

Thank you in advance!

Hey @jakkos,

Thanks for reaching out! We did some digging on the subject and can confirm that adding collaborators wasn't a possibility on the web player until recently. With this in mind, it's possible that the function might be glitching so, if it's possible for you, we'd advise using the desktop app instead for this purpose.

As for the web player, we can definitely go for some more troubleshooting to hopefully remedy the issue on there as well 🙂
When possible, attempt to give a different browser or a device a try. It's also worth checking if creating a new collaborative playlist would present the same results.

Hope this helps! Keep us posted and we'll be on the lookout for your response 🙌🏼

Thank you for your kind response! I used the desktop app and it worked. Still, I have to report that my friend joined the playlist but couldn't add any song from his desktop app. Then he tried successfully from the smartphone app.

In the end, problem solved despite the glitches.

Thanks for your help. ✌️

Collaborative playlists simply seem to be broken for some users.

It doesn't matter what device they use. It doesn't matter what client they use. It doesn't matter if you send them a new invite link. It doesn't matter if you make a new playlist and invite them. It doesn't matter if they uninstall, clear their cache, and reinstall Spotify. They remain unable to become collaborators on a playlist.

I have users in my community who were totally able to join our collab lists a month ago, and now almost all of them report that they can't interact with our newer shared playlists at all.

This is an issue reported by many users over the past few months. I hope that someone at Spotify will take this seriously and actually try to investigate this rather than just repeat the same ineffective troubleshooting steps.

I posted a topic about this but it seems to have been removed so I'm just going to reply to every thread with the same issue.
