Liked songs only showing 10.000 on Desktop

Solved!

Liked songs only showing 10.000 on Desktop

Premium User

Windows 11

Suddenly the last months (maybe all year, I can't remember exactly).

My liked songs on desktop are only showing 10.000 songs, while both my phone and the webplayer shows all my 14.940 songs.

I can't even search for the missing songs on desktop anymore.

I used to be able to scroll down to the bottom and see them all, but now I can only see the 10K, and it's random songs that are missing.

It's driving me insane, as desktop is where I listen the most.

I have done all the things you normally say, like clearing cache, re-install, log out 2 times on all devices and log in again, and all that stuff, I have had my share of problems before, and I know this is not on my end, and have already talked to your support one time, where he said there was a limit on the desktop as it "couldn't handle as much as the phone and webplayer" So that was just a WAIT WHAT? moment and I gave up.

So someone please inspect what you have done to the engine, of the desktop app to make it cap at 10k again?

Please fix what you have done, because even a couple of years ago where i tested this, I could like 2 million songs, and STILL scroll to the bottom and see it all.

Back then it was a test, and it worked without problems until I reached those 2 million songs, and I will never be able to reach that high a number again.

So please just find a fix for this as I will be able to shuffle everything I like most of the time.

As you can see the desktop and the webplayer shows different numbers of songs...

Hi there @Heavynissen,

Thanks for your reply and for trying out our recommendations.

This is very simple, but go to the Desktop app > Click on the 3 dots on the top left > Help > Troubleshooting > Reset app data and restart. Once done you'll have to log back in. Check if that makes a difference.

On another note, are you able to log into your account on a different computer? This will help us know if the correct number of songs show up on a different computer and we'll be able to tell if this is device or account-related. It can be a family or friend's device.

We'll be here.

Hey @Heavynissen,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

We appreciate the troubleshooting you've done so far. We understand you’ve already tried some troubleshooting steps including reinstalling, but to be sure that we're on the same page and that we've covered all the basics - did you use the steps for a clean reinstall mentioned in this article?

If so and the issue persists, if you installed the desktop app from the official website, we'd recommend installing the version available in the Microsoft store (or vice versa) to see if it shows the same number.

Lastly, include in your next response the exact OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.

We'll be on the lookout.

Yes I have done the clean install a copule of times now, and it's still the same. The version from the Microsoft store also does the same too, although it's a bit slower, so I changed back again to the app from your website.

Thanks again for the reply.

I somehow got it to work again by resetting the app data, install from microsoft store, reset app data again, install with the downloaded installer, uninstall again without resetting the app data, and then install again with the downloaded installer, and then suddenly all the liked songs were showing again.

Just another info, I checked on a friends laptop, and it did the same thing there with my account, but his account with 16k liked songs worked, so that was a bit weird.

But thanks again for the help, now I just hope it keeps working again 😄
