My Question or Issue

Any and all local files are greyed out in playlists or my library, wherever visible. The only way I've found for these to be properly recognized is to exit the app, go into my downloads folder, and play the song manually from there. Then, of course, I can choose to open the file in Spotify, and the issue is seemingly resolved from there.

However, after some amount of time or closing spotify, the files go back to being unavailable! Listening to any more than maybe 5 local files is more of a headache than it should be, so how could I fix this?

*With the exception of one song for some reason? The first one I added locally, if that matters.

Hey there @poona

Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.

First up, we suggest that you re-toggle Local files in the app settings by heading to Settings > turning Local files off > force closing the app > reopening it > turning Local files on again.

If this doesn't do the trick, there're also a few other things we can try. Can you make sure that Spotify has all necessary permissions enabled?

  1. Open your Settings menu.
  2. Scroll to the bottom to find Spotify and open the app settings.
  3. Enable everything you see.

Let us know how it goes.

I have the same issue but with IOS. The music that use to be on my folder on my desktop, I would plug my cell via USB and turn on local files and find the file location, now music doesn't appear. Apparently this was changed. I was refused a refund I regret buying a new card. I have to switch music app. It doesnt have most songs I listen to and this is what I was always doing.
