Unable to remove songs from Discover Weekly

Unable to remove songs from Discover Weekly

I'm on the premium plan, using the Windows desktop app version of Spotify.  I'm trying to remove a song from my Discover Weekly playlist, since it's been there before and I didn't think much of it the first time.  The button to do this has been removed.  I can find old posts explaining where it is, and it's not there any more.  How do I remove this song from my playlist?

Hey there @mcdowejd,

Thanks for reaching out via the Community!

To start it's worth mentioning that the "Hide song" function is currently present in the mobile app in playlists that are made by Spotify or by someone else, but not your own playlists.

When it comes to this function in the Discover Weekly playlist on desktop, however, you can currently no longer hide songs from it, but the option is still available in the mobile app. This change is temporary and we're working on having consistent hide functionality across playlists and devices.

Could you check and let us know if that's the case for you? The more info you provide, the better and if needed we'll perform some troubleshooting together.

Something that might be convenient for you if you're triggered by some music is to stop a certain artist from playing altogether on the mobile device that you're using. You can do so by going to their artist page and selecting Don't play this artist.

Hope this info helps clear things up and don't hesitate to let us know if anything else comes up.

Just posting for visibility regarding demand for this feature on desktop.

Anyone desperate for a workaround can open spotify on mobile at the same time and use it as a remote control. The hide/dislike button is still there, for me at least (Android)

Please bring back the remove button!

I've tried this on MacOS and the changes made on mobile don't sync with desktop version.  It is so dumb.

Why can't I delete/mute a song in my discover weekly link on my desktop? It keeps getting worse and worse songs each week. It was there for years and you deleted it. This is the opposite of AI.

My Question or Issue

Adding onto what everyone else has said: please bring back this functionality. It makes the parts of Spotify that I use most completely unusable.

I am utterly floored this has not been fixed if the team here is "working on a fix". Spotify, as a functional music playing application, is borderline unusable at this point. Every single update adds something I cannot imagine why it needed to be changed, but stuff like "not being able to dislike songs spotify gives me" when the algorithm has been consistently sending me friday night funkin or other music for literal children, for years now, has me considering no longer using spotify. The music recommendations have been absolutely terrible for the past years; what I like doesn't get recommended to me and what I dislike gets recommended to me week after week. For what purpose would it be necessary to remove a basic feature of premium and not have a supposed fix ready a month after the fact. I've used spotify for literally a decade and I think this might be so egregious that I just cannot use this service anymore.

Same issue in Linux client, sad, the Discover Weekly isn't really usable without this feature.

Spotify, please bring this feature back!

wth, Spotify? My PC is my best audio quality listening platform, where I can properly judge whether I like a song. Now, on Discover Weekly, I can’t even hide tracks or give feedback on my preferences. What’s the logic?

This has been unaddressed for so long that I suspect it will never be fixed. We’re just left indefinitely hanging. Sort it out, or I'll be forced to use a different platform.

Do we have an update on how the clever folk at Spotify are progressing the solution?

As of 2/2025 the "hide" option is still missing from Discover Weekly making what was a favorite playlist, something that is no longer usable.

Currently all content by artist must be hidden just to mark one specific song to never again be played. That's not fair to the artist. properly fixing Discover Weekly should be a high priority.

Maybe a better alternative to "hide" is an option list so the reason can be captured.

- Hide: "dislike this artist"

- Hide: "dislike this rendition"

- Hide: "dislike this song (independent of artist)"

This would help eliminate the on-going problem that once a song is liked, dozens of additional renditions of that same song appear in Discover Weekly,

This upcoming  weekend I am canceling Premium Duo and going on an adventure on some other app.

I will stop using Discovery Weekly entirely if Spotify doesn't bring back the option to dislike/hide songs. The only reason I started using the playlist is because I thought it was useful to have a weekly collection for me to pick and choose music from, while still being able to "thumbs down" any tracks that weren't my particular taste. If they remove the option to dislike songs on the playlist, it is virtually useless to me. How will they learn what I do and do not like to hear for next week's playlist? Simply how quickly I skip the song? BORING! It used to feel like a personal playlist I could build bit by bit every week, now it just feels like yet another way for Spotify to try to force music THEY want to push towards me without any real consideration of what I enjoy (or do not enjoy).

Hello @_yan!

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Community. I'll try to help you out.

Spotify is constantly testing out new features and improvements for the app. This means you might see a certain feature in the disappear or a new feature that is available for a temporary time. You can learn more about this here.

If you would like to have the dislike button in your Discover Weekly playlist again, I'd recommend checking out this article for the steps on how to post your idea on our Community Ideas Exchange.

Hope this helps!

Note: I'm not a Spotify employee.

Still waiting for this to be brought back. Its silly I have to grab my phone and open the app on there just to hide the songs I don't like!

Please for the love of god bring this feature back already. This is truly the only feature i actually care about besides just playing music from a list.

Now i'm more likely going to find my stuff on youtube as the convenience of filtering songs on spotify i don't like has been gone for months. If the service degrades even further i'm probably ending my years long subscription for something else entirely.

Please return the ability to mark as song as "don't like" or "don't play" in Weekly Discover.  I have long used this ability to help hone future suggestions by Spotify.  Not having this ability increases the odds that I will discontinue Spotify and switch to another music provider, such as Apple Music.

Hello, I have been using spotify premium for over 7 years, I listen mainly on iPhone or Windows.

I'm disappointed with the latest update where you removed the option to "hide" songs in the Discover weekly playlist in my library. Please help us work with the algorithm by choosing what we like and dislike.

Some of the recommended songs just ruin the entire playlist for me.

Like if you agree 🙂

Please bring the button back!
