In March 2023, we're removing the Playlist Radio option from the playlist context menu. We'd like to hear your thoughts and feedback about this change in the comments.
FAQ
Are we removing the whole radio feature?
No, we are only removing Playlist Radio. Track/artist and album radios will still be available.
Do we have features where users can have a similar experience?
Yes, right now we have the enhance button or the recently rolled out smart shuffle to give recommendations based on user-created playlists.

same. If I can’t use Spotify to find new music recommendations anymore based on my playlists then what’s even the point of having Spotify?? I’ve had Spotify premium for like a decade and this is the first time I’ve considered canceling. I can’t believe they’d get rid of their best feature. Smart shuffle isn’t a good replacement. Why don’t they want to give people options?
edit: oh what a surprise their forum is also poorly designed and broken. gives me the option to reply to people’s comments but then just posts them as new comments with no indication what they’re in reply to. Great. Good job, spotify.
I can’t believe they removed their best feature. This is so disappointing.

“smart shuffle is not as good in that regard. Especially since you can only see upcoming songs from the queue but can not interact with the songs. Such as liking them or adding them to a list from the queue menu.”
Yes!!! Exactly! That’s exactly what’s wrong with this feature removal and why “smart shuffle” is NOT an adequate replacement. Thank you for putting it so clearly. I hope Spotify staff actually hears this feedback but somehow I doubt it. I’m so disappointed that the #1 feature I use Spotify for has been been taken away with no warning or explanation. Definitely thinking about canceling.
(Aside: the format of this forum is kinda weird. I don’t think my replies are being connected to the comments I’m replying to. They’re just posting as new comments which makes them look really random and disjointed.)
Please bring this feature back, it was one of my favorite things about Spotify, and it made it easy to find new songs, and artists to listen to. Unlike the smart shuffle, I liked how with the playlist radio I could actually see the list of songs it was playing. Even if I missed the name of the song, I could go back and look. You can’t do that with the smart shuffle.
p.s. please bring the heart back to like songs instead of the plus sign ;(
Don’t understand why you would discontinue this feature. This was such an effective way to discover music on your platform and build depth into my existing playlists.
I really enjoyed the playlist radio function and really dislike the "smart playlist" add-on feature. I loved being able to go to the playlist radio and skim through it without even necessarily listening to the songs, but just looking for artists that way. In addition, it was so much more convenient to pick and choose which of those songs I liked to add to a playlist of mine. "Enhancing" the playlist just adds a bunch of random songs, some completely irrelevant and in an entirely different style, and then I have to go through and delete the ones I dislike and keep the few I like. Playlist Radio was a much better feature, I have not used Enhance since the first time I tried it (and even then, I immediately un-enhanced)

My question: why remove it? I don’t think this has been answered.
This was Spotify’s best feature. Your listeners are not enjoying their listening experiences like they were before.
If this was an experiment, it has failed. Has anyone given you feedback that they appreciate this new change?
I hope Spotify listens to their customers and brings playlist radio back.
FYI Youtube music has recently added it.
Horrible change
Horrible! I can see myself stop using spotify if this doesnt come back.
This used to litterally be the only way i used spotify, soo.. Im not happy. I will probably unsubscribe.
I use this function all the time to find new tracks, I prefer it over the 'enhance' button as radio allows me to chose and select songs I want to add to the playlist rather them almost automatically appearing there.
I should not have had to come research what happened to the radio feature. A feature notification would have been ideal. I used the play station radio feature daily but smart shuffle is a fine accommodation. I simply wish I didn't have to go searching the internet for the solution.
Please add the radio back. It’s such an important feature. I listen to the playlist radio more than the actual playlists themselves. I’m now looking for another streaming service that has this feature. I’m going to use soundiiz to convert my playlists.
Please keep it, i use it all the time
This was my favorite feature on Spotify.
Bring it back please, no reason to remove it. Can have both the playlist radio and the smart shuffle.
The playlist also plays really awkwardly now, instead of moving on to recommended songs/radio, it continues to play the same playlist, but it is choppy?
Not very enjoyable to put a playlist on in the background and hear the same songs appear frequently.
Terrible, terrible, terrible idea. You guys have continually made it more and more difficult to discover new music by limiting the radio station functionality. I don’t want Spotify to “enhance” my playlist. I want a station based on specific artists, many times of different genres, to find new artists that blur the lines between. Bring back Spotify radio in all its glory, including thumbs up and down, or reinstate the Stations app. Until then, I’ll be switching to Pandora where there is a dynamic algorithm that changes based on my taste and feedback.
When do we get it back? I preferred the enhanced button far more than the “smart” shuffle that honestly doesn’t even seem to be working? I turn it on and then it just doesn’t work well, if at all. I refuse to just trust y’all to pick a good mix for me, and the enhance and radio buttons made me feel more in control of my listening. Now I can’t see what’s coming next and I don’t get to control what new songs I want added. Way less fun of an experience and a huge hassle.
TERRIBLE IDEA - THIS WAS BY FAR OUR FAVOURITE FEATURE - PLEASE BRING IT BACK
