In March 2023, we're removing the Playlist Radio option from the playlist context menu. We'd like to hear your thoughts and feedback about this change in the comments.
FAQ
Are we removing the whole radio feature?
No, we are only removing Playlist Radio. Track/artist and album radios will still be available.
Do we have features where users can have a similar experience?
Yes, right now we have the enhance button or the recently rolled out smart shuffle to give recommendations based on user-created playlists.

They removed one of the most valued and frequently used feature for me.
I'm confused about what benefit the removal could have brought to their business and why they would consider the loss of value to their customers worthwhile.
Will the playlist radio come back any time soon? i really enjoyed that function :(. Thank you.
I like the smart shuffle. But give us the option to create a playlist radio. I'm now just doing "create similar playlist" and adding those songs into the playlist I had.
So I figured it out.
This feature has had extremely much attention over the years going back and forth about actually keeping the feature or not. It has always stuck around after a while of removing the feature.
Spotify needs more money. What should they do?
Either they can do like everyone else, restrict the usage, stop password sharing, and limit the access etc etc. Or they can rethink their strategy and do something different.
I think the playlist radio was starting to get too good and Spotify realized it. The feature has been free for a long time and now they want to charge money for it. But starting to charge for features that has already been out for years is company suicide.
This is a golden opportunity for them to just delete the feature, claim it wasn't used much. After some time they rebrand the exact same feature to some "Super duper AI playlist shufflemixdix" and claim an upgrade to their new "Spotify Hi-Fi Supercr4ap Premium" is needed and charge $10 extra for it.
It's so obvious. It's a disgusting business practice but as always it's needed and they will of course get away with it.
The end user always gets the short end of the stick.
Yeah when I saw that Ai playlist rumor I figured this was done for. Total garbage
Premium Family subscriber here and this is a real disappointment. Prices go up and features go down?
No context or reasoning given to such a helpful powerful feature. This is the primary tool we’ve used to discover music, then new playlists, to share and overall be more engaged in the platform. I’m so tired of being socially engineered by these big companies that don’t care about consumers and want us to WASTE OUR TIME by having to vent here for them to maybe listen? They will just use the posts to cite “community engagement” when really they just make everyone mad. Suppose we’ll just vote with our $. Garbage choice Spotify.
I Constantly used the Playlist radio to expand on the music I already love. This was a way to curate songs from similar artist - which in many cases were appended to my playlists to expand my repertoire. I am very unhappy that this feature is no longer available. Honestly - even it is still available for larger playlists, it was most helpful for my smaller playlists where I was trying to find similar artists and sounds.
BRING IT BACK
As there has been zero response from Spotify I have now left the platform and went to better competitor. Same price, better sound quality. If more leave spotify maybe they'll start to listen to the people that is still left.
Why would you get rid of this? The app is so much less useful now. That was one of my primary listening modes. Now I'm considering canceling. I tried the Enhanced Shuffle thing and it's not the same.
I used to rely on this feature so much and now it's gone. 😢 It's impossible for me to think of all the songs that might fit in to a particular playlist and I don't have the time or want to manually hunt down every song.
The smart shuffle doesn't fill the same function. I want to be able to listen to the new tracks separately! This change is terrible.
Kindly please bring back the playlist radio option!
I agree with all the people here. I just dont understand why you would remove such a good performing feature. I loved to use it to discover new music and it worked way better than the "enhance" feature. Please bring it back. Dont make Spotify something that i used to love.
I loved playlist radio, it was the best feature! But I also understand why they would take it out... it probably costs so much computing power compared to fixed artist, album or track radio's which can be calculated only once, playlist radio's need to be calculated every time you add/remove items from the playlist, and also every time playlist is created.
I personally would really love playlist radio to come back please
Playlist radio was an essential tool for me and I’m very sad without it. I find myself just on smart shuffle skipping all of the songs in my playlist and it’s annoying
A huge feature loss.
It's a shame that Spotify isn't listening to it's community after so many months of begging for it back.
I guess that makes the point of this 'community' forum useless.
I absolutely hate what you have done. (Either bring "enhance" to browsers or bring back playlist radio.) This app has slowly turned into garbage with all of the recent changes. This isn't the app I am willing to pay for.
I am really annoyed by this change. Sometimes I like to explore beyond the playlist that I have created, and this was that option. "Enhanced" only adds a few songs to a playlist. I like using my playlist as a seed for radio.
