My Question or Issue
I got emails saying my playlists had been taken down. Below is the text of one of the emails:
'Hello,
We have found the following content to be in violation of our content policies, and we have removed it. Please see our Spotify Terms and Conditions of Use for more information.
(Playlist url code)
Regards,
Spotify'
The big question is: What is it about? What was the violation and why am I allegedly in breach of Spotify's Terms and Conditions of Use?
I've been using Spotify on the Premium plan for years, and that's just now (and with my biggest playlists). They lost their name and photo. My playlists have become the second largest in the category they are in, so I have strong suspicions that the takedowns are due to malicious reports.
I humbly and kindly ask for an explanation of what happened and why it happened and a solution.
Sincerely,
Lucas.
Solved! Go to Solution.
You apparently did do something wrong. Your playlist didn't hit the right chord with someone. And they decided to vote your playlist off the island.
I do hope that your playlist is left alone, but in case it isn't, you have a way to make it stick. The script.
If you have trouble modifying the script or understanding it, ChatGPT does a wonderful job of troubleshooting as well.
Or you can post your issues here. There a few technical people in here that can help you. Me included.
Has anyone from Spotify weighed in on this lately? They told me on my very unhelpful chat they were "working on it".
Spotify weigh in on things?
Yeah right. They make too much money to actually interact with the plebs.
Follow the "Solution" above, to an eventual link, of a "potential" solution. There are over 1000 people that agree with "potential solution" that would need to be implemented by Spotify - some code mods. That would take minutes to do.
But no movement on making it happen.
I've been having this problem for a while now, and can find no way to appeal it. Here's the latest:
Hello,
We have automatically removed the following content after receiving a report:
URI/URL: spotify:playlist:4DjHHWIV4s6v4P4V4zkNTg
Content Type: PLAYLIST
Appeals options vary by location. If you’re an EU resident, you can appeal this decision by following this link.

Spotify
That's the email. My playlist, which is merely a collection of hit songs by Aerosmith, is in violation of no policies. Spotify keeps deleting the name of the playlist. And I keep restoring it. On and on it goes. But I have no idea why. And there seems no way to appeal this weird behavior.
You are correct. There is no way to appeals this kangaroo court. The people who run Spotify are "woke." Anyone can take down your list because they simply don't like it.
If it was an automated system doing it, you would get those "Taken Down" emails at exactly the same time each day. But very likely, they happen at what appear to be random times. Hence, a human, abusing the reporting system.
Your best way is to fight back using the script that we have posted here. Using Python and accessing Spotify's API, you can automatically rename the playlist and the description. As for the picture, simply chose another one.
Run the script every hour, for a few weeks. Automate it by using Window's Task Scheduler.
Eventually, you'll simply exhaust the perp at the other end. Good luck!
This is already getting ridiculous. Someone is maliciously reporting my playlist that does not violate Spotify's policies. The name of my playlist is "Garotos Podres", the name of a punk band in Brazil. There are several playlists on Spotify with the same name, the difference is that my playlist has more than a thousand likes. Now Spotify has sent me an email message saying that if I insist on the name, I may have the playlist DELETED. What should I do?
yaktam
But Spotify sent me an email saying they could delete my account if I insisted. Can this really happen? Someone is repeatedly reporting my playlist and Spotify is accepting the report even though it doesn't violate their policies.
@Proletariado Can you share a screenshot of the email you've received? The one that says Delete?
Yes, g3Mo. Details: 1) Spotify says it can suspend or delete my account; 2) I can't even appeal this decision because I live in Brazil. My playlist name does not violate Spotify's policies. It's the name of a Brazilian punk rock band (Garotos Podres), you can find several playlists with the same name. Someone is abusing the report against my account and Spotify is accepting it without me being able to defend myself.
Okay. This is the usual email. Nothing to panic.
Only way to win: Wear out the policy abuser who wants your playlist gone.
2 ways to do this.
1. Keep renaming (to the OG name you put) and restoring your playlist every time the policy abuser does this.
2. Run yaktam's script that does this.
May you have more patience than the policy abuser.
Good luck.
Thank you very much g3Mo. I will follow the tips from you and yaktam. The only thing that caught my attention was the threat to delete my account, which would be even more ridiculous.

Dear Spotify,

Spotify
I am a yoga educator, breathwork facilitator, and a mindset coach - I shared this playlist with my clients and the list is for uplifting the mood and spirit.
There are over 1300 saves for this list, I recently made it private due to this erroneous message.
I've been a spotify premium customer for over 10 years, and I believe this report was a malicious attempt by someone. Not sure who, but this threat to delete my account and takedown notification are inaccurate
I read Spotify’s Platform Rules and there was no violation on my behalf. In fact, I brought 1300 customers to your platform to stream music. Not to do harm.
I ask that you review this malicious report and allow me to keep this playlist, and in fact block the person who was reporting this playlist
Best regards, Marizsa
Hey, did anyone find a solution to this problem? I also got the same issue right now and I have no clue what's happening. I had made a playlist of the songs I listen to the most. I got the exact same email one year after creating the playlist, stating that my playlist has been taken down due to sensitive content.
Also, is there anyway I can make the playlist private? I created these playlists so that I can stream the songs I like, not for others to judge and falsely report.
Thanks
I got an email like this just now because the image I used for my playlist--a famous work of art--was deemed "Sensitive Content". So, anyone can successfully have any mundane image taken down for being sensitive content? I'm not happy about this.
The only way I could think of rectifying this on my end without cancelling my Spotify is to make all of my playlists private. Sorry, followers. I'll keep my own curated**bleep** to myself from now on.
Honestly, if you put the playlist back exactly the same way, keep it public and same image and everything, there's a chance it won't even get reported again. I think that may have been one of the reasons someone was always reporting one of my playlists that had a famous picture of Salt-n-Pepa at the top, and I just kept putting it back, and it seems they finally gave up. I haven't had to "reactivate" the playlist in a long time. It almost seems like Spotify doesn't really care, since they make it so easy to put it back up just by typing in the title again. If they really wanted it removed, wouldn't they make it more difficult to put it back?
The exact same thing has happened to me. With 3 different types playlists already. I don’t know what’s going on and I can’t get any help or answers from the support chat. Someone told me it could be a copyright photo I used on the cover so I took them all down, but I’m still not sure. And it’s quite frustrating, I don’t want to keep losing playlists, especially when I don’t know the reason.
i keep having the same problem .20 playlists in two days ..iv'e tried to complain but nothing happens ,if it continues i will cancel my subscription ,i dont want to because ive had spotify a long time and have lods of playlists !

My Question or Issue
Hi! A few weeks ago, I received a email saying my Spotify account had a playlist taken down becuase it went against spotify policies. When I clicked the link to the playlist, it went to a playlist that I had deleted several months prior that had no title, image, or description. Because of this, I don't even know why it was taken down. After reviewing Spotify's playlist guidelines, I don't think I've made a playlist that goes against them. I do not wish for the playlist to be restored, I just want a reason provided so that I can prevent this behavior from happening again.
I contacted Spotify support twice, and both times they closed the chat without explanation.
All I want is a specific reason my playlist was removed so that I don't make the same mistake again.
