Search bug on Vodafone IT mobile network

Search bug on Vodafone IT mobile network

Plan

Premium Family

Country

Italy

Device

moto g4 plus, moto x4, samsung s8

Operating System

Android M, Android P, Android O

Everytime we do a search while we are listening to some music appear the message "you are offline, try again". But the home page and the music streaming have no problem. To solve the problem we have to force close the app or switch off/on the data connection. It only happens with data connection (full 4g) not with wifi connection.

It's a common and serious bug here in Italy, you can check all the bad reviews in Italian Android play store. It could be related to vodafone network. We're waiting for a fix. Thanks.

Hey @svasta,

We're still looking into this one - we'll let you know as soon as we have any news.

Thanks 🙂

Meanwhile you can use version 8.4.62.490, it works fine

@gianlucadr where to get it?

@Petermeanwhile have you any workaround like previous APK and/or beta version?

After 2 months in this condition i'm planning to stop the premium subscription 😞

Spotify version 8.5.3.716

Nokia 8, android 9

Vodafone IT

Never had problems with my previous operator (Fastweb) so I don't really know if it's actually a problem of Spotify or VDF..

as @gianlucadr said, with a previous version everything is fine. I can confirm it, I've found on the internet the APK of 8.4.62.490 and it's perfect.

So @Peter please ask your tech department to focus on something that has been changed from that version to the new one.

Hey, I can confirm that I have the same issue and it's very annoying.

I confirm that I've also made a:

CLEAN REINSTALL

REMOVED ALL OFFLINE DEVICES

About the info requested:

Spotify version: 8.5.770

Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Android 9, January security patch

Same as the other I have issues only when I'm using data mobile on Vodafone IT

I can't believe that you still haven't found a solution...

Hi,

This is starting to be annoying. The app has been updated several times since the beginning of the issue and no update solved it.

I frankly feel a little bit frustrated especially since there was no improvement or at least any communication other that "we're looking into it".

We're talking about an issue that makes Spotify basically unusable for almost half of the Italian population, which isn't US (I get it) but it's far from being a small market.

If you really wanted to fix it you certainly would have it in this time span. So my question is: why this issue isn't a priority for you?

Waiting for an update...

And I'd like to underline that this problem is known till late February... it's 3 months, and the only "official" reply is "we're investigating.." In 3 months, the most of italian population paid for a service that is not completely provided....

I've been forcing my network to 3G for two/three days, and I never experienced the problem in question.

Moreover, I've also observed  the same annoying behaviour with other apps on 4G (e.g. whatsapp sometimes doesn't send messages until I restart the mobile connection). This is why I was starting to blame VDF 4G rather than Spotify (notice that I've never had issues with Fastweb 4G).

Hey there folks,

Thanks for all your patience so far!

We did some magic backstage that should help. Could you give it a fresh try and let us know if the error message still pops up when searching for songs with a 3G/4G connection?

Further, please make sure that you're on the latest version of the app available by following the steps here.

Let us know how it goes, thanks!

I'm on the latest beta update 8.5.7.999 and I have problems with songs stopping or however problem connection on 4G Vodafone Italy carrier, I will check later if there will be improvements.

@Katerina No evident changes.

After some tracks it still stop.

Hey there @svasta and @snke,

Thanks for getting back in touch!

Please keep in mind that users in this thread have reported that they're seeing the error message provided in the original post when searching for songs while connected on 3G/4G. Just to confirm, are you experiencing this?

If instead you're having troubles with songs suddenly stopping when connected to 3G/4G, we'd recommend heading to one of the relevant boards in our Help section and start a new thread with all the details of what you're experiencing. We'll do our best to lend a hand there 🙂 Thanks!

@Katerina as explained in my first post, i have the search issue and the streaming stop: both was fixed by toggling the access to data or airplane mode.

It seems to be better now, bu the issu is still present.

@KaterinaNo data in search section is closely releated to the songs stop issue. Same as @svasta said until now the only "fix" is to stops data connection on my phone (through airplain mode or toggling off data connection). I'm continuing to test the new update (8.5.8.552 beta) to see if there are actual news in 4G. I'il update you.

Nothing has changed for me

Hey folks,

Thanks for your patience while we looked into this issue.

We’re happy to say that this should now be fixed for everyone!

If you’re still experiencing this issue, let us know and we’ll look into it.

Thanks!
