Sorting albums by release year from oldest to newest makes the library not to work

My Question or Issue

When sorting albums by release year from oldest to newest it makes the library not to work. The only way I could fix it was by uninstalling and reinstalling Spotify

Edit: I managed to reproduce the issue, it happens when sorting albums ascendingly by release date. My fix for the issue is to rename the Spotify folder in AppData/Local and hereby causing Spotify to create a new folder, somehow fixing the issue.

So yesterday on my Windows 11 PC I tried sorting albums by release date on the Windows app and since then the sidebar wont load. It shows an error "Something went wrong." alongside a Reload button, which reloads it but then shows the same issue again. The rest of the app works perfectly fine.
I tried the built-in Troubleshooting methods but nothing worked. Before trying a reinstall (and possibly having to re-download all my music) I wanted to ask: has this happened to anyone else? And what would be the fix?

Could you let us know what exactly happens when you try sorting the albums by release year from oldest to newest in Your Library? We'd also like to know if it happens across devices or only on your PC. 

 

Additionally, sending us some screenshots of what you see on your end would come in handy. You can attach them to your next response by using the Insert image option in the post editor. Make sure not to send any private info.

Thanks for following up with a screenshot!

 

Just to make sure we cover all bases, could you try resetting the app data to see if you notice any difference? To do this, click on the 3 dots in the top-left corner > Help > Troubleshooting > Reset app data and restart. It's worth disabling Hardware acceleration as well (it can also be found under Troubleshooting).

 

Should the issue persist, can you let us know if changing to a different grid (View as) cause the same error?

It would also be great if you could ask a friend or a family to log in to their own Spotify account on your PC, just to see if it behaves in the same way.

Resetting app data reverts still doesn't allow for me to view the albums by oldest to newest based on release date.

I also tried changing it to grid format and I still can't view the albums by oldest to newest.

I couldn't find someone else to try it with.

You mentioned that you've already reinstalled the app, but would you mind going through the steps of a clean reinstall, as it's more thorough than a normal one?

 

If the issue persists after following those steps, it'd be helpful if you could try with a different account. Since you let us know you couldn't find someone to ask to try this, we suggest creating a new account to test with. This will help us determine if the issue is account-related.

I got a friend to order his albums from oldest to newest and he said it was fine. He uses Windows 10 and is a premium user
I did a clean reinstall and the problem still persists.

Sorry for the confusion! What we meant is that you could ask a friend or create a new account and log in on your affected devices. This will help us check if the same issue happens with a different account, so we can tell whether it's related to your specific account or the devices you're using. 

 

Also, just to double-check, can you replicate this behavior across all your devices? If so, sending us the exact Spotify version they're running would come in handy.

My Question or Issue

My library crashes after sorting albums by release date in ascending order. This is an issue that has been occurring to me for I think at least a month, but I am currently on version 1.2.75.280.gb8d7ae93. I attached a screen recording which displays how it crashes. I can only get my library back by either resetting app data and restarting or fully reinstalling the app. Please fix this, thank you.
