My Question or Issue
Spotify scrolls back to the same spot over and over again. It doesn't save or stay where I've left off, I'm not gone too long for it to justify its reset in position. Tried uninstalling, restarting, logging out. Not a big problem now but it's starting to get annoying when I have to keep scrolling back to find the song I lost because of this. It doesn't even scroll all the way up. Just goes back to this position. Below is an example, the red box shows the song I hover around or area I want to stay in, but when I change display (message someone quickly in messenger lets say) and come back to the app, Spotify goes to this area of the playlist. It consistently goes to this specific area. Any other solutions than the ones I've mentioned?
Hey folks,
Thanks for all the info you've sent so far.
We can confirm that this is being tested. We’re always testing possible improvements and new features, so you might see something on the app that other users don't, or get a brand-new feature for only a temporary period.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us and will make sure to pass it onto the right team, as we always strive to improve your experience.
Hope this clears things up. If you need a hand with anything else, the Community is here for you.
i dont use smart shuffle, and the issue persists on smaller playlists, willing to wait for reply and fixes :))
Thanks for confirming folks 👍
Do you use any themes for your phone by chance? If so, try disabling them to see if that helps. Something else that comes to mind is changing up the animation speed in your phone's settings. If you're using a dynamic wallpaper lock screen, try disabling it temporarily as well.
Let us know how it goes.
Hey @Squek,
Apologies for the late response.
We've checked on our end but couldn't reproduce the issue. Can you let us know the model, OS version and Spotify version of the other device you've tested this on? Also, does your other playlist have roughly the same number of tracks saved in it?
We'd recommend going through your phone's settings and making sure that Spotify is set as an exception in any battery- or memory-optimizing services that might be preventing the app from running in the background.
Keep us posted on how it goes!

The scroll reset has ocurred in my friend's phone. Looking through similar cases, it seems that when a playlist hits a certain amount of songs, the scroll reset will happen. My liked playlist, where the problem most often occurs, has 3800+ songs. Whilst my other playlists have around 400 - 600+ songs each. Like I've mentioned, Spotify resets happen on my other playlists but it "fixes" itself after a certain amount of time passes. Unlike my liked playlist, the scroll reset remains. I've also gone through spotify settings and made exceptions for things like battery/memory optimization. Unfortunately, the scroll reset still happens. I guess problems occur once a playlist has passed a certain cap, in my case, 3800+.
Thanks for testing 👍
Have you tried changing the sort order of the playlist to see if that makes a difference? If you're able to consistently reproduce this behavior, a short screen recording which captures it in action would be greatly appreciated - that way, we can get a direct view of what's happening on your end and investigate further.
In case you're unable to attach it here in your reply, you can instead upload it to YouTube as an unlisted video, or to Google Drive - just make sure the file is accessible by anyone with the link.
Cheers!
I also have this issue, I tried a clean re-install it doesn't work. I checked, the app can run in background fine. It runs without issues on my other phone (old Samsung S10) but not on this (A55). Somehow the issue does not occur if Screen recording is active. So I had to record in this format.

I got a screen recording of how when I minimize the app and open it up again it scrolls up on the playlist. This is on my normal, big playlist.
As for the animation part, I've had issues recently where my phone has changed to 2x animations by itself, making every animation twice as slow as normal. I've had to manually go in and change it back several times.
I dont think I have dynamic wallpaper or any theme on my phone but I'm gonna double check to make sure.

The same result happens when the list is sorted differently. They all revert to the same spot.
Thanks for the assistance @Squek!
We've forwarded this to our tech folks who'll investigate further. In the meantime, make sure you're always running the latest version of Spotify so you don't miss out on any updates.
Take care 💚
Hey folks,
@AlexG3Z, thank you for posting and welcome to the Community!
@Bangtanfox, thanks for providing a video of the issue!
Can you also check if navigating to the album/artist page from the 3-dot menu of one of the songs and going back produces the same behavior? This is currently being investigated in another thread and we want to make sure the two issues are not related.
Cheers,
I have the same issue on a OnePlus 12 with latest updates. Keeps reverting to a specific scroll list position when I change view or go into a song then go back to playlist.
Extremely annoying, to the point I'm thinking of switching to YouTube or Apple Music.
Please fix asap!
I tried what you asked with the 3 dots, both taking me to the artist and album and it did not result with the same issue. It took me back correctly
Hey @Bangtanfox,
Thanks for letting us know!
In that case I believe you're experiencing the exact same issue mentioned here. It's currently being looked into.
If you wish to do so, you can comment in the thread or just subscribe to it to stay on top of any new updates 🙂
We'll keep you posted 🙌🏼
seem to have did the trick for me, thanks

I am also having this issue.
The problem occurs in my Liked Songs playlist which is >4000 songs.
There is a related bug where opening my Liked Songs playlist only loads the first 100 songs in the playlist for 10-20 seconds before loading the rest of the songs. After switching off the screen or backing out of the app, the scroll resets to the end of the first 100 songs if I had scrolled further down beforehand (see this video)

I'm also having this same issue.
I don't know exactly when it started but a few months ago maybe.
Tried a clean reinstall as per an earlier post without a difference, seems to happen to all playlists, don't use shuffle.

Hello; I was having the same problem, then I entered Spotify's permissions from the settings and noticed that the "music and audio" section was not allowed. Then I locked my phone a few times, exited the program and observed that the situation was fixed. You can try the same thing, maybe it will work
