Why does spotify require me to accept spam in order to sign up for premium access?

The "Terms and conditions" for premium access say:

"You also grant to us the right" ... "(2) to provide advertising and other information to you, and (3) to allow our business partners to do the same."

With no option to opt out, or say no. Why do we have to accept receiving spam?
