My Question or Issue

I'm having this weird problem since a couple of days ago.

 

(I've edited this message as I put a new reply with some updates/info)

 

Description is pretty easy: it doesn't matter what I'm hearing, sooner or later I'll end up listening one specific unknown artist. 

 

I'm just listening to any list I like and suddenly I'm listening this random artist who I don't know and never heard of in my life. It has happened with two artists so far: first it was Kaisa's "Sicilian Puppet", so I blocked the artist. After that, it's been starting taking me to Josephine Nyvoll's (?) "Challenge". But blocking this one didn't didn't make the app to try another artist. (see further replies).

 

This has been happening in the last two-three days. I just realized that if I'm listening in PC but the phone app is running it will also change the song but if I close the phone app then the PC app seems to work just fine.

 

Quick update: PC app seems to be failing even though the phone APP is closed. Same behavior. 

 

- IOS 13.3 (17C54)

- I updated the phone app TODAY, so I'm in the latest release: 8.5.41.669

- Desktop App os = 1.1.24.91.g4ca6d5eb (Microsoft Store version)

- Windows 10 Home Single Language - Version 1903 - OS Version 18362.592

I can see that you've already gone through some good troubleshooting. There are a couple of other things you can try out, described in this Spotify Answer

 

Also make sure you've followed all the recommendations to secure your account from this support article.

 

Should the issue persist, this might be something that has to be looked at backstage. You can contact the friendly support folks through this link, they'd be happy to help you out.

This same exact problem is happening to my account aswell with the same song being loaded up and locking into replaying it. I performed the same steps you did as well as testing the app on a different android phone and the same exact problem would occur. I also deleted my "Apps with access to your Spotify information" apps and the problem seems to still occur. 

 

So for a fact this a non-iphone or android specific issue, just mobile devices in general.

No third parties but Waze or Google Maps allowed. And Facebook, which I use to login. I don't even have a Spotify password.

 

Either this is fixed in the next days or I'm moving to iTunes. I simply can't listen to music on my phone, which is of course the 90% of the time I listen to music.

 

Some notes on what I've tried and found in the last two days:

 

- It seems to be getting worse. Commuting to work today I had this happening 7 times in 30 minutes. I can't listen two songs in a row. Sometimes I can't even finish a song.

 

- This ONLY happens when the phone APP is running (even if I'm listening in PC), but phone APP and PC app will behave differently. See:

   * While listening on the phone, it will change the song, set Shuffle, Repeat-1 option, and start playing it.

   * While listening on the PC (app still open on the phone) it will change the song, set Shuffle, Repeat-1, but also MUTE the PC app.

 

Quick update: PC app seems to be failing even though the phone APP is closed. Same behavior. 

 

- I tried blocking the artist and this is what happens:

   * Phone APP: Crashes. It will just close the app.

   * PC App: Get a message which is something like "You have to unblock the artist to listen the song".

 

- Forced log out from FB and Spotify to every device, then I changed my FB password and enabled the two-factor-authentication so I'm pretty sure no one is using my account. Still happening.

 

- I tried to disable Autoplay, Crossfading, Automix and all those options. Still happening.

 

- Of course, I've uninstalled everything from every device. Still happening.

 

I created Spotify Support Case # 17026904.

 

I'm just paying for a service I can't use, so I hope this is fixed REAL soon.

Same exact thing happened to me, with the "Josephine Nyvoll" playing.  It happened on both my PC and my iPhone.  My account is linked to FB.  One of the strange things is that when they take over, it is on the device I am using, not on some nebulous device, and no other devices outside of my PC and iPhone appear in Device list.   Also, if you look at this artist, there are only 13 followers but 13,124 monthly plays, which is fishy.  I think this may be a pay per play scam somehow linked to this album, with a bot taking over accounts and padding the plays.  Here are the steps I took:

1) Went to FB settings and "Logged out of all Devices" 

2) Changed FB Password

3) Went to Spotify settings and "Logged out of all Devices"

4) Logged back in fresh on iPhone and PC. 

5) STILL HAD THE ISSUE

6) Contacted Spotify Support via Chat and they delinked my account to FB. 

 

This was an hour ago and so far, no smooth jazz take over of my session.  Fingers crossed.

but the name of the unknown song is different 

it’s « abbytono lindoer oliverakia 96 »

and i can’t listen to more than 5 seconds of any song i try ...

i’m waiting for an answer from Spotify support as you ..
