Add the search bar back when adding a song to a playlist

Solved!

Add the search bar back when adding a song to a playlist

The search bar to browse playlists has been removed when you add a song to a playlist. This makes something that used to take 1 second, a whole minute, specially if you have a lot of playlists. I have 250 (most i probably dont check) but having to scroll to find the right one to add a song is seriously bad.

For some reason, after the latest update, the search function *sometimes* shows up. I thought it was when you go to add the song you’re currently listening to, but it seems inconsistent. Here is a screenshot of the screen when it doesn’t allow you to search, and one where it does. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to which interface pops up. This is also frustrating to me because I have over 100 playlists.

Happy to report that logging out of Spotify on my iPhone and then logging back in did resolve this issue for me.

I had this same annoying problem, but it went away when I logged out on my iPhone, and logged back in.

I am so tired of companies like this taking away helpful features to add other ones that cause us to stare at our phones longer, FULLY KNOWING the negative health impacts our devices have already,

When I have a song I want to add to an already existing playlist, the search function has been removed. I have to scroll to find a playlist. It has the option to sort differently but as someone with hundreds of playlists, it makes it incredibly difficult to find certain playlists without scrolling for a good minute.

This is an example, no search functionality, only Sort By option.

Hey ! This is to inform you that I also have been having this issue for the past 2/3 days on my iphone 11 (ios < 18.3.1, don’t remember) but then noticed that I an ios update was available. I then updated to ios 18.3.1 and the search bar reappeared !

So worth trying to update your phone if you can. But Spotify should definitively solved this for older versions as soon as possible, it’s very annoying !

Used to be able to Search a word in large playlists, hit the top song and it would only play the results. This was handy for singling out artists/albums or just for fun.

Since updating to the latest version, it will now play all the songs from that playlist instead.

(If you Search your Liked songs, this could be thousands of songs you didn't want to hear that time.)

The option to select either could be placed to the right of the Search bar after the results show up.

As an aside, the new 'swipe to remove' from the queue means potentially thousands of swipes if it plays the whole list as I mentioned above.

Hey! The same thing happened to me too! I literally tried everything people kept suggesting - logging out twice, deleting the app and reinstalling, doing a soft reset of my phone and then logging back in. Absolutely nothing worked until one day I decided to update my phone and I went on Spotify, and the search bar was back!

I’m currently running on iOS 18.3.1.

Hi folks,

Thanks for the patience!

Our tech folks are still investigating this, but as @Cyyan and @Ethoteric mentioned that updating to iOS 18.3.1 fixed the issue for them, maybe it's worth giving it a try if you haven't already. Also, make sure you're running the latest version of the Spotify app. And thanks for your input, it's highly appreciated!

Keep us posted.

Marked as solution

Hey everyone,

Our tech folks have made some changes backstage so this should now be fixed - just make sure you're running the latest version of Spotify 😎 👍

In case you're still having trouble, try logging out and signing back in to your account in a row - this will force a resync which may help here. It's also worth performing a clean reinstall of the app.

Cheers 🤘
