Since a recent update, Spotify app on mobile now shows full-screen advertisements for newly released albums or podcasts (of creators I don't follow nor listen to) that I have to click away before I can use the app for what I actually pay for -- listen to my playlists.
This goes against the promise to be ad-free when paying for the service

After some further searching I found that this has already been discussed and Spotify says, they are not going to do anything about it.
Thus after a decade of being a Premium user I have cancelled my subscription. It is not acceptable, to sell subscriptions as being ad-free then find ways to show them anyways.

I already have had all notifications disabled, except news about artists via email. But, I don't see how configuration for email/push notifications is relevant to the issue where a fullscreen suggestion popup behaving exactly like an interstitial ad is showing within the app when I open it.
In case you a referring to the section "Sponsored recommendations" in the linked article, I don't see any "Learn more" to disable it (see screenshot in original post)
