Album Background

The album background on my iPhone used to be a good mix of the album artwork like as if the artwork colours kept on going on my phone screen. Then it changed to just one bold colour which sort of reflected the album artwork. I thought that was ok but preferred the older multi colours. Then I bought a new iPhone this week and the background went back to multicolour but today it is just one colour again. I just checked my iPad and the colours are the multi colours. Why is that? What do other have as their background?

Can you please provide screenshots explaining exactly what's happening on your devices ?
