My Question or Issue

Quite a few years ago, I used to use the ‘Do not play this song again’ button to skip a song, not understanding what it did. Now, when I want to go back to those songs, it won’t let me play them. Even tapping the three dots next to the song and tapping ‘Allow to play this song’ doesn’t work. It closes the menu, but nothing happens, not even after closing Spotify or restarting my iPad. Does anybody know how to fix this?

Even after the reinstall the button "allow to play this song" does not do anything. I kept clicking it and it did not work. It just closed the three button icon like it did it but it did not

I have done everything you guys have said but nothing has worked

You have to heart the song then unheart the song

Hey @CrypticMadi,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

We get that you had some issues with liking and disliking a song? Could you confirm if you're still experiencing difficulties or you found a way to resolve them? Perhaps you could send us a short video of your experience, so we can take a closer look at what happens at your end and give you a better advice about the behavior of the app. You can send a link to it or attach it using the Insert Video option in the post editor.

Let us know how things work out, we'll be keeping an eye out for your reply.

This did not work

Hey there @Me1237

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

Would you mind sending us the info @Kiril asked for previously?

Also, could you let us know the exact make/model, operating system and Spotify version of your device?

We'll be on the lookout.

“Music acts like a magic key, to which the most tightly closed heart opens.”– Maria von Trapp

Hello,

I was listening to this song on repeat and it suddenly stopped and transferred to a 'song radio' which I have no clue as to why it did so. Then I added that song to the queue, but I accidentally pressed the 'hide' sign and now I can't seem to unhide and play the song 😞

I tried reinstalling Spotify and restarting my phone and it still didn't work.

Device: iPhone 11

Operating system: iOS 15.5

Spotify version: 8.7.36.1590

Hi @nkim19,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

Just to confirm, is this happening when logging in with a different device (song still shown as "hidden")?

Changing tunes, we recommend that you clean the cache of your device by following these steps. Then, log out everywhere

Lastly, restart the app and let us know how it goes.

We'll stay tuned.

"Music touches us emotionally, where words alone can't." -Henry Thoreau

Hi,

The same thing happens on other devices - it won't let me play the song.

I followed your steps to delete cache then logged out and reinstalled the app, but it still appears as unplayable.

Hey @nkim19,

Thanks for posting in the Community and the troubleshooting you've already done.

What happens when you try to mark the song with the heart above the "hide/unhide" button and then remove the heart? Are you able to afterwards "unhide" the song?

If you're not able to "unlike" the song, do you mind preparing a short screen recording of the experience? You can either post it here or upload it to YouTube.

Keep us posted,

Cheers!

Hi,

I liked and disliked the song then it started playing! Thank you for your support 🙂

You just have to like the song again and then it will allow you to play it again:)

Yeah I’ve literally tried everything and liking and unliking is the only solution.

I had this same issue and turned off the setting it didn’t work. All I had to do after though was like the song which is directly above the “not allowed to play this song” and it removes the restriction. Hopefully this helps anyone who runs into this problem.

Hey folks,

Thank you for the messages.

@phillipsnic30, we're glad to know that everything is working fine after the workaround. We appreciate the time you took following the process and sharing what works for you. Hopefully, this tip will help fix the issue for other users too; in the meantime this is being investigated by our team.

In case you need anything else, remember that we're just a post away.

Cheers!

Figured it out… mobile app issue. Go on pc and unblock it from there. If you did it on pc try unblocking from the mobile app.

Hi Zaya!

I have the same issue as you and I think I’ve been able to fix it!
Try “liking” the song (press the heart icon) and it should bring it out of the loop. I think the app is trying to stick too closely to the presets behind being “hidden” and gets caught in a loop trying to preserve those. Something for the developers and coders to figure out. I know this came a couple years late, but let me know if it works!!!

I had this problem and tried all the methods on this page and none worked. After giving up and attempting some random efforts in the hopes that it might work, I added the song to my liked songs. This let me listen to it, and once I removed it from my liked songs everything was back to normal. (Side note, I added it to a separate playlist before doing this. I don’t know if that makes a difference.)

Yes! I wanted to say this too! I got so hopeless scrolling down this thread as I tried all the things people suggested and saw tons of others still struggling with the same issue when I accidentally discovered this! spread the word everyone!
