Apple Watch downloaded tracks skipping

I've downloaded a few playlists to my Apple Watch by selecting "Download to Apple Watch" from within the Spotify app on my iPhone. However during playback on the Watch some tracks just skip for no reason. I can play on my phone, no problem, but switching to the Watch fails (even if I use the phone UI to drive the watch playback). 

This video is of my phone controlling playback on the Watch, and to start the song "Toll" is playing. I select "Chimera 2.0" and playback fails for that song as well as for the next song "Forgiveness" and it goes back to "Toll". I've tried removing the downloaded playlist but the behavior returns.

This video of my watch shows the same behavior. What's going on?

We appreciate all the info you've attached to your message. To continue investigating this issue, would you mind checking if it happens with all playlists or just that one? 

If it's just a single playlist, could you share the URI in your next response to have a better look? 

Lastly, check if your Watch has any pending OS updates that may interfere with the proper behavior of the app.

Also, both my watch and phone are up-to-date.

Thank you for keeping in touch and for the new details shared.

Since this issue could be related to some damaged cache stored on your devices, we'd recommend clearing the cache and reinstalling the app on both devices. You can follow this process to perform it on your iPhone.

Keep in mind that we included your iPhone in the troubleshooting as well because the process to download the songs comes from it.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation regarding this issue.

Yup, looks like it was a corrupt cache. I did the full-blown removal of everything but if/when this happens again I'll start with clearing the cache first. Thanks!

This keeps happening. Not super frequent (maybe every 45 days or so) but it's getting to be too much. I REALLY don't want to have to go to Apple Music but it's incredibly frustrating to be messing around with my watch in the middle of a run just because the perfect workout playlist I have going for the run is skipping all over the place. I know it doesn't sound like a huge deal but being able to listen to the music I want during my runs and rides is why I spend the extra money on a watch with a cellular connection in the first place. The prices are the same for both family plans and I already picked up a playlist sync app. I'll miss the year end wrap up though. 😞

Heh, I go through all the work to start porting over to Apple Music only to discover that the soundtrack that has been driving my workouts for much of this summer (, FWIW) isn't on Apple Music. So I have to stay. Welp.

• The model, OS version and Spotify version of the affected devices.
• A detailed description of the issue (a short screen recording would help a lot)
• The last time this occurred (please also include your time zone)
• Any troubleshooting steps you've tried.

hi can we reopen this? the "solution" doesn't work, and I'm having the exact same problem as OP. the process to clear the cache on the iphone, linked in in the article in the "solution" seems to be outdated as there's no option for me to clear my cache in the settings. No matter what I do, I can't play a downloaded playlist from my apple watch series 9.

Thank you for posting in the Community. 

When in the Settings Menu you should be able to locate the Storage section and within it you will find the option to clear your cache. As a further step to troubleshoot, if you have not already, we would advise to perform a clean uninstall of the app. You can do so by following the steps in this article.

I’m using Apple Watch s9 ( v10.3) and having the same problem

I think there are some people having the same problem and they are changing to Apple Music so…

I’ve tried to redownload Spotify but it keeps happening again.

The initial downloaded playlist works great, but every new song added to the playlist will show as downloaded, but never be playable on the watch. The only solution is to reinstall the Spotify app on the iPhone. I've been reinstalling it weekly, which is getting to be pretty annoying.
