Auto resume not working

When I’m listening to music on Spotify and open other apps with videos like Instagram, YouTube, or LinkedIn, the music stops. After I’m done watching or mute the video, the Spotify music doesn’t resume automatically. I have to open the Spotify app again or press play from the Dynamic Island.

I’ve tried reinstalling the app, clearing the cache, and turning on Background App Refresh, but nothing works.

Thanks for reaching out and kudos for all the troubleshooting you've already done!

Has this been an issue for you for a long time or has it started happening recently, for example after an app or OS update? It might be worth logging in your account on a friend or relative's phone to see if you get the same behavior and to check if it might be device-related. Can you also confirm if this happens when you're connected to a Bluetooth device or if it's an overall issue?

Something else that comes to mind and is worth the shot is making sure Spotify's granted all necessary permissions in your phone's settings. We've also seen some reports on other forums that Siri can trigger incorrect resume behavior, so even if you're not using Siri to navigate, we'd still recommend the following:

• Open Settings → Siri & Search
• Toggle off “Learn from this App” for Spotify
• Toggle off “Show App in Search” temporarily
• Reboot your iPhone and test again
