My Question or Issue
Hello,
I just recently got an iPhone 15 pro. At night I like to play some noise through Spotify to sleep. I noticed that playing through my phone speaker caused overheating and significant battery drain. Without being plugged in, I lost 40% in about an hour. While plugged in to a 5W charger, the phone will not charge past 65% even when plugged in all night. After turning off Spotify, it will charge past 65%. I listen to music through my headphones during the day and the drop does not seem nearly that significant.
My wife just recently got the same phone (although her's is 256 GB and mine is 1 TB) and she does not have the same problem.
As far as troubleshooting, I have tried turning on and off background refresh in the settings and the problem is still present. I have also followed the directions provided by a Spotify chat agent to uninstall and reinstall Spotify to the phone. This also was unsuccessful in resolving the problem.
Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?
Does anyone have any recommendations to fix?
Hello, OP here again, I updated to version 8.9.12.541 and experienced the same issue. I saw 20% drop from full charge in 1.5 hours and my phone actually died when at 15% and plugged in while playing.
An additional detail that may be helpful, I tried playing the white noise with my volume turned all the way down, and did not experience the same drainage. I am sure you all know more, but this seemed to point to my issue being related to the way the speakers are being driven...
Using version 8.9.12 and having this issue. Spotify was responsible for 70% of my battery usage over the last 24 hours.
I have been having the same issue on version 8.9.12 since upgrading from an iPhone 12 Pro (never had any issues) to an iPhone 15 Pro (issues since the start). Same details as everyone else, massive battery drain with only light usage at times, background activity mostly responsible. Tried clean reinstallation, clear cache etc. No avail it just comes right back.
I have just noticed that there is an update with 8.9.14 being released, I will see how it goes with that and report back but I am not hopeful.
FWIW - I think it could be related to podcasts and auto downloads. I was using Apple's own app for podcasts (which is garbage), and recently switched to Spotify. I followed all my shows and set it up to auto download the latest 2 episodes on a few of them. Since then Spotify has been unusable due to battery life. Would be a shame to have to switch having been a premium member for over 10 years! Please find a solution to this ASAP.

There are several reasons why your iPhone battery might be dropping suddenly. Here are some steps you can try to fix it:-
1. Check Battery Usage:- Go to Settings > Battery. This screen shows which apps are consuming the most battery. If an app is using a disproportionate amount, it might be the culprit.
2. Background App Refresh:- This feature allows apps to refresh in the background, which can drain battery. Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and turn it off completely or for specific apps.
3. Location Services:- Location services are useful for many apps, but they can also be battery hungry. Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and limit location access for apps that don't need it all the time.
4. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi:- Turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi when you're not using them. Go to Control Center to quickly disable them.
5. Update Apps and iOS:- Outdated software can sometimes cause battery drain issues. Update your apps in the App Store and install the latest iOS update in Settings > General > Software Update.
6. Force Restart:- A simple restart can clear temporary glitches that might be affecting battery life. Refer to your iPhone model for specific instructions on how to force restart.
Spotify has been causing my battery to drain significantly recently. It’s averaging a 25% drop in 45 minutes of listening through my phone’s speakers with 30 of those minutes being in the background with my phone locked. My app and iOS are up to date.

My Question or Issue
Spotify has started draining my iPhone battery to an alarming degree while listening to downloaded playlists and podcasts in offline mode. This has been getting worse for several days, and just culminated in my battery going from 100% to 20% in the space of 20 minutes. This started with the most recent update (Aug 12). Is there any way to rollback to the previous version until this gets fixed?
Just used it this afternoon - it went from around 80% to 9% in the space of ten minutes while using Spotify connected to Wifi.
How do I roll back to the last functional update?

Since Tuesday of this week playing Spotify on my Bluetooth speaker is severely draining my battery. Work from home and stream all day and have never have battery issues. Usually 60-70% left at the end of the day. Now I’m at 50% by lunch only streaming for 2-3 hours.
Was there a change to the app that would cause this? Downloaded or streaming doesn’t make a difference. Have gone through all the recommended actions online and it hasn’t helped. Only thing I haven’t done is the clean install.
I have the same problem i have a iphone 16 pro before i had a 14 pro max battery was never a problem i don't know if it is ios 18.3.1 or spotify my phone gets hot realty easy as wel when im only listeing to spotify
