Cannot find facebook friends - error message

I have connected spotify to my facebook account; when using the iphone app, i cannot load a facebook friends list - presents an error message.

I have deleted; reinstalled. Downloaded the app to my macbook; tried there with no avail.

Investigated using the spotify website. No luck there either.

@Spotify, can you resolve this issue for me? This is really frustrating and is leading me to consider cancelling and subscribing to apple music if it cannot be immediately resolved thank you.
I've seen the forums on here - however the solutions I have found are not working.

it keeps forcing me to link my FB each time as well; but when I sign into my Facebook, it shows that permission has been granted to spotify apps?
