My Question or Issue
I do not see a receiver in my home under the Device list on connect when logged into the non-primary Duo account. When I log into the primary account on the same phone the receiver is shown. Can you not use connect with a Duo account?
Hey @richards8822,
Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!
The way Spotify Connect works is that you need to be logged in with the same account on both devices.
So you'll need to log in with your personal account on both your phone and on the Connect device for it to appear in your devices list.
In a Family/ Duo account, all accounts are seperate. They're not instances of the same account. The only difference is that one user is payig the Premium subscription, while the others in the plan enjoy all Premium features on their own accounts.
Hope this clears things up. Don't hesitate to reach out again.
I confirmed this to be an accurate description. Why, on your website, does it indicate Duo is "2 Premium accounts for a couple under one roof", yet the couple is blocked from both being able to use Spotify Connect on their "Premium" accounts? It is very disappointing that this specific feature would require two separate "Premium" accounts, because the Duo one is actually less premium with limited functionality.
I will be researching alternative services unless this is fixed.
Hey @richards8822,
Thanks for your reply.
To clarify, there's no difference between an individual Premium account and a Premium Duo account. They're both the same and have the same features, including Connect.
As @Alex mentioned above, for some devices, Connect works when you're logged in to the same account in both devices. From what you're describing, it sounds like the account that's logged in or linked to the receiver is the Duo owner account - that's why it doesn't show in the Connect list when logged in to the Duo member account.
Hope this sheds some light on the matter. If you have any questions, the Community is here for you.

This is describing my issue, and it apparently is not something Spotify plans on fixing. So, it doesn't appear that having 2 premium accounts would fix it, it just isn't something that is possible period.
Hey @richards8822,
Thanks for the post.
You're welcome to add your +Vote to the Idea you've linked to.
As we've said previously, on some devices you need to be logged in with your personal account on the speaker as well as your phone/ laptop to play music on the via Spotify Connect.
Hope this makes sense. Let us know if you have questions.
I fundamentally love to make and present my intensity for music to others who feel the same way. Have a respectable one.
