Casting podcast audio doesn't respect audio speed setting

My Question or Issue

When I cast podcast audio to my Google Home Mini, it only plays at 1x. Even when switching to 3x on the app, no difference. It's very frustrating to listen on 1x!!

At the moment it's not possible to control the playback speed of podcasts while streaming via Connect. This is because of the way that Spotify interacts with external speakers.

However, we recommend having a look at this Idea suggesting the possibility to control the playback speed while using Connect. It’s also worth knowing that the higher the number of votes an idea gets, the more likely it is for the idea to be implemented. 

As a workaround you can try connecting to your Google Home via Bluetooth from your devices and play the podcasts that way. This will allow you to stream with the same settings that are active on your device's app.
