Does syncing local files duplicate files on IOS

Hi ho everyone,

I am syncing my local mp3's on my iphone from within the Spotify App. Will this duplicate the mp3's thereby wasting space?

The local files are synced within Spotify's iOS app, so if you also have them in the music app of your iPhone they will be duplicated.  Spotify can't access the files you have on your phone, they have to be synced in the Spotify app.

Funny, then how do countless other music apps have access to our files?

Sorry, I meant "can't" as in "the way the app is currently designed it won't access the local files".  Not that it isn't possible.  I'm not sure why they have it setup this way.
